3rd Trimester

anyone else tired of the comments?

I am getting more and more irritable! It's like people want to see me gain 80 lbs... I'm 5'7 , first pregnancy, 30 weeks and have only gained twelve pounds .. I have always been around 150 & pretty active. But why are people still saying "omg your bump is so little" "well as long as the doctor says baby is growing fine" how rude! Maybe I'm just sensitive and I get defensive but every BODY and pregnancy is different!! I'm sorry that some gained 60+lbs and still can't lose it.. But I really am on my last nerve everyday at work someone else is saying you're so small yet!.. I guess I don't like all the attention and being compared!! Leave my little bump alone lol!

  • They'd find something to comment on regardless of your weight, people have zero filter around visibly pregnant women.

  • Haha oh man... It's inevitable I guess.. People will always have something to say!... I'm going to have to just smile and say thank you! Lol. :)
  • People seem to feel the need to comment on a pregnant woman's size.  I don't understand why, because I can think of any other time when it would be appropriate to comment on a woman's size, yet people seem to think it's okay.  I'm sick of hearing, "Wow, you're getting BIG!"   Um, thanks.  I was feeling okay about myself until that....

  • I've been talking with friends and someone would hear that I am pregnant and they would be all OMG congrats and everything, the thing is I am 37 weeks today. Uh duh yes I am pregnant I am not just fat! T_T Try not to let it brother me, some people or rude or just stupid.

  • If your that bothered about it, then the next time it happens, make a comment about their weight. It'll send message that just because you're pregnant doesn't mean it's appropriate to make comments like that, AND it'll help you blow off some steam. It's a win win of you ask me haha
  • I have had 'your bump is so little' and 'omg, your huge!' About 30 minutes apart. People feel like they need to comment on pregnant women's weight and size. Just smile and nod and ignore it.

This.  I've been told I'm "huge" and that my bump is "so little" all in the span of a day.  People just feel the need to fill a conversational void with something meaningless.

  • I get this all of the time too.  It's starting to give me a complex like my baby isn't growing or something.  I know my doctor would say something to me if there was an issue so I just keep telling myself to trust her.  I keep asking my DH if I look like I"m getting bigger because I want the answer to be yes!
  • So tired of it. Company Christmas party we went out to eat then went bowling. Co worker says geez don't you ever stop eating? Then again at bowling looks like you brought your own ball! Huh. Come up withy that one all by yourself?
  • I've been getting the "Your bump is FINALLY growing!!" comment lately. I usually respond with "Good, now maybe people will stop thinking that I just let myself go." At first it did make me feel freakish, like I wasn't eating enough for my baby because I literally haven't changed anything with the way I'm eating portion wise other than eating healthy frequent snacks. Plus it almost feels like my family is force feeding me more than what I'm actuall hungry for. Just let it go and make a sarcastic remark back. Think passive aggressive. Once I started using that tactic the comments starting dying down.
  • Yep, someone will always have a comment to make to a pregnant woman. I think those comments annoy me so much right now because I'm so bitchy all the time. Our crazy hormones don't help matters any....

  • I feel you! I will be 30 weeks this coming week and have only gained 6 lb so far. This is my 2nd pregnancy (my 1st I only gained 16lbs total) and i'm only 5'2 so that may be why so little? I eat all the time but just don't gain much. But my bump is not little. So people think i've gained a ton of weight. And I sure take offense when they ask me about my plan to lose all the baby weight. It's like geez.. back off! Even if I did gain 60+lbs... it's NONE of their business!!!
  • I get the "you don't look almost 28 weeks" and "at least you're starting to look pregnant now" and I've gained 22 pounds so far. It's all in how you carry. I'm also 5'7 and I have a long torso so that helps. I get tired of comments as well. It doesn't matter if someone has been pregnant before, every one is different and people forget that...
  • People keep commenting on how much I eat and my weight.

I tell them that the recommended weight gain for me is 25-35 lbs, and I've only gained 12 lbs so far even though I'm in my third trimester.  That usually shuts them up!
