August 2012 Moms

Announcement!

People, I rarely evangelize about products, and I hate anything that is remotely cool or trendy.

But.

I got a box from Stitch Fix today, and I want you all to know that you should try this thing.  I love to shop and have not done much since the advent of DD, and this box was a little slice of heaven.  If you like pretty clothes, you should check it out.

Re: Announcement!

  • Ooh, I heard about that on the working moms board. I'll have to check it out.

  • Can you let us know the range of how much the items cost?

I bet you can get a referral if any of us join, do you want to see if there is a link we should use if we do join?

  • I get them too! It is super amazing. I had some trouble with fit in my first box since I am short and short waisted and on the heavy side. Second box was great though! I wanted to keep everything!

You can set price ranges that you're comfortable with. Last box I kept a black dress that was $85 and a sweater that was $60. I also wanted to keep a gorgeous teal purse that was $45 but couldn't justify spending the cash on it right before we moved. Can't wait for my next shipment!

  • Okay, it is a service where you tell them a lot of information about your style and then they send you five items to try on.  You keep them for three days, then you have the option to buy or send back.  Shipping the box back is free and they include a label.  It costs $20 to get the box picked out and sent to you, but you get that as a credit if you buy anything.  If you buy everything in the box, there is a discount as well.

The big things I included in my style profile was that I wear mostly dresses and that I am short and curvy.  I added comments about how I have a massive chest, a bit of a mommy tummy, and that I prefer tunic and v-neck style tops over crew or turtlenecks due to aforementioned massive chest.

Here were the things in my box:
    • Lily Friederich Geo Print 3/4 Sleeve Dress - $58 (DH loves, but it's fancy and I don't necessarily need another fancy dress.)
    • Lily Imelda Abstract Paisley Print Dress - $108 (I love this but I might return it.  It's $108 and I have other similar dresses... but then again, I do really like it!)
    • Under Skies Haddie Chevron Print Belted Dress - $68 (L.O.V.E.  Keeping and wearing like it's my full time job.)
    • 41 Hawthorn Kia Keyhold Bishop Sleeve Dress - $88 (I like it, but if I had to pick a least favorite item, this would be it.  It's quite plain and similar to a blue dress I already have, so it will probably go back.  It was a good pick for me, so points to the stylist.)
    • 41 Hawthorn Queensland Dolman Jersey top - $48 (Love, keeping, have already worn.  SO flattering!)
If you Google Image search those, you'll see pics from bloggers who have reviewed the items.

It was fun to try on clothes at home and try "styling" them with items I already owned.  DH liked being able to give his input on clothes without coming shopping.  He actually said that I should give him the style tips cards from the items that I keep so he has ideas of gifts to buy me.  (They send cards suggesting what accessories could go with which items - it includes things like shoes, jewelry, and cardigans.)

I scheduled another box for March and said to send bottoms and tops, too.  I felt more comfortable with dresses the first time because I thought there would be less room for error.  I am wondering if they can find me a great pair of jeans!
  • Gosh this looks amazing! However, I am more in love with my money than I am clothing (although it's close, lord knows it...) and most of my clothing is purchased from the clearance rack at Target or Old Navy.
