Re: Amazing stories...

  • There have been a lot of stories lately about babies born in the car or at home. DH has been freaking out.

  • This is my fear.
I live @ 30 minutes from the hospital, but my last labour was only 5 hours from my first contraction to baby on my belly.
I'm afraid it will be quicker this time if I go into labour on my own again.

I told DH if he isn't home, I'm calling 911.
  • I secretly hope baby arrives at home. I'm not too keen to be in the hospital so if baby arrives at home and there's nothing I can do about it I'm okay with that.
  • I'm convinced i will have this child at home. I will not go back to the hospital unless i am for sure it is the real deal.
So i thought it was the real deal thursday...it wasn't.

My water better break-or my doctor better send me to L&D. I refuse to go again.

If i did end up going into labor my sister is a nurse and my husband has a military background, between both of them i'm confident a healthy child can be born!

  • @cruisegirl28: Having a baby at home is my worst nightmare.  I don't want to have to clean that mess up.

MH and I keep on joking that if it happens that someone will need to cut up rags and boil water.  We're not sure what either of those things will be used for (do the rags clamp the cord and are you sterilizing scissors to cut the cord with the water?), but based on our extensive TV watching, those are definite necessities.

@bearsbearsbears I think the boiled (sterile) water and rags are to make hot compresses for the perineum, to help things stretch out to reduce tearing. That's what I read somewhere randomly, anyway.

I'm full of random info like that. :P
