Mobile probs-- Sassy needs to catch up!

So, as I mentioned in FFFC, I have been having some issues posting from mobile so I feel like I haven't actually talked to you guys in FOREVER. Hiiiiiiiiiiiii, friends! <3

I'm going to brain dump now, and then gif all over the board while I am on my laptop.

I actually took Thursday off work to run all kinds of errands. I met with our pediatrician, who seems great and is really laid back and friendly. It was way easier than I thought-- I was worried that I had waited SO LONG to pick a pediatrician (mom fail), but I went in a few minutes before her first appointment of the day and the office staff was super nice and knew who I was when I walked in (not many hugely pregnant ladies coming in at 8am, I guess?) and showed me around. Then the doctor came in, asked how my pregnancy has been and then gave me her little "Dr. Karen 101" speech, and asked if I had any other questions that she didn't cover. The only thing left was to ask how she felt about possibly having this kiddo on a vegetarian diet (I'm vegetarian, DH is not, so we're going to see how things go). She was like "Oh, that's fine. As long as he or she is growing and healthy it's no big deal. We'll keep an eye out for anemia but I doubt it will be a problem if you're experienced with a balanced vegetarian diet."

COOL. I like young doctors. They're usually so open-minded and reasonable!

Then, DH and I met up and went in for my ultrasound!! Baby is (approximately) HUGE. They estimate 7lbs 5oz, and I'm 37 weeks. DH and I were both over 8lbs, so I'm not particularly surprised. It's actually kind of a relief. I'm growing a very healthy-sized kiddo! Guess we won't be needing a whole lot of newborn-sized clothing or diapers (we do have a few newborn things for the beginning). The tech said I have great fluid levels, too. Oh, and baby is head-down with his/her head nuzzled into my hip and feet pointing toward my back. Phew! I feel so freaking fortunate that everything has been so smooth. I've worried my stupid head off now and then, but we're all good. Full-term kiddo can arrive whenever he/she is ready! HOW CRAZY IS THAT.

Next up-- the OB. My GBS was negative (HOORAY!), so no need for an IV during labor. I can just get the hep lock and go on my merry way. DH asked about induction (apparently he's worried about unnecessary induction-- what a sweetie!) and the doctor said she'll let me go to 41 weeks plus or minus a few days before even discussing it without any other reason. She isn't worried about baby's size at the moment-- she said we're in the 69th percentile for size (plus or minus, you know), and that's totally normal and she doesn't see any reason to worry at this point about baby being too big.

And, of course, we skipped the cervix check because ain't nobody got time for that!

THEN... I met with the natural birth liaison. She went over my birth plan with me and LOVED it. She said the nurses will totally get it and she loves my cheerful tone. She also said it's great that I put in there that I'm open to suggestions for helping labor along naturally because many nurses take a hands-off approach to med-free births-- they aren't sure if their help is wanted. Inviting my nurse to be an active participant will be great, according to this lady. So that's exciting. She said I seem super prepared and I shouldn't be nervous-- I've done everything I can and all I need to do now is practice my relaxation techniques and then just do that when it's go time.

Oh, and she showed me the list of foods they allow for med-free laboring moms-- I saw scrambled eggs and was like "Okay, this is good! If I DO get hungry you'll actually give me real food! Awesome."

FINALLY... I tried to install our car seat.... but I no longer fit in the backseat of my car. So DH will be helping with that this afternoon. LOL.

I can't believe we're at 37 weeks! I can't believe I'm going to be a mom very soon! I'm doing okay with the achy hips (helloooooo, baby head!) and the out-of-breath feeling (helloooooo, baby butt!). I feel as exhausted as I did in first trimester, but it's okay. Not long to go. Then I just have to push this kid out... which I am a smidge anxious about but overall I feel confident. DH says I'll be a champ at labor. He's pretty awesome. Wow. This is totally happening like... SOON! :O

Anyway, that's what's up with me. Sorry for the effed-up-mobile-bumping-induced silence lately. :P

  • I don't know anything about my cervix except that it's like the "neck" of my uterus (they kept saying that in our classes... weird) and that at some point between now and when the baby comes out, it will go from closed to 10 centimeters open. :P

There! A paragraph about my cervix! ;)

  • Aaaaaand, all that good luck had to give sometime. DH felt fine a couple of hours ago (even installed the car seat in my car), but suddenly started vomiting and having diarrhea a little bit ago. No fever, so hopefully it's just something he ate.

    Makes me really nervous. :(
