With my DS the nurses did not want me to use a pacifier because we were breastfeeding. I finally got one out of them to give my nipples a break. I was thinking of bringing my own this time. Thoughts?
I don't see anything wrong with bringing your own if you want. They probably didn't want to give you a paci though until your son had gotten the hang of BFing, so there wouldn't be any nipple confusion. Something to consider.
I didn't ask and they didn't offer the first time. The second time they offered. This time I will ask if they don't offer. We had some latch issues at first but the LC was lovely and helped a lot. You're the mom do what you want

I've delivered in two different hospitals. They both provided them on request but really tried to help with any breastfeeding troubles you may have been having first. I would bring one or two of your own, just in case. It's nice to have on hand if you decide to try offering them.
My hospital's policy states that they do not supply them.
Buuut, it also states that they do not supply diapers or post-partum pads. (Both of these they supplied while I was in hospital with DS - which was when I first read the policy) My thought on this is...the hand them for the ladies that come in unexpectedly early, of just plain "didn't know they were pregnant". Lol.
I seem like the anomaly. Our hospital actually gives all boys a paci dipped in sugar after circumcision regardless of the parents' wishes on pacifiers. It is in our circumcision paperwork.
I plan on bringing my own for this so that baby uses the brand I already received at showers. Otherwise, I don't plan on giving him a paci until we are both good at BF for fear of nipple confusion.
