I am chickening out I think. I have all these cool ideas for a pirate party but I think it will be so much cooler if he was 3. So I think I am going small.
We're going to do a Southern Gentleman theme party. Just going to make some batches of sweet tea, lemonade, and mint juleps with mustache straws. I saw a great pin for pie pops and we'll just BBQ. His birthday will be Memorial Day weekend so that seems the easiest.
I'm going to steal something my sister did for my nephew's 1st birthday party. She made a "year of firsts" board and put up pictures of his first day home, first bath, all the holidays, first time in the snow, etc. It was really cute and everyone loved it.
I want to do a "you are my sunshine" theme, with pink and yellow decorations.
Other than things already mentioned, I want to make a slideshow of pictures to have playing on the TV from her first year. Our house is open concept so everyone will be able to see it.
We're doing a Kentucky Derby Themed party since DSs birthday will be derby weekend. I'm using this blog for ideas...but I'm probably going to get chocolate horse pops they sell here locally that week.
Ugh! I am so torn! My house isn't really big enough to host a large amount of people, and between family and friends there will be a LOT of kids. I'm toying with the idea of having it at a bouncy type of place, and then having immediate family back over the house afterwards. My other option is to go small and just have it in my backyard.
@CNJ4EVA - I think Party City has a bunch of Dr. Seuss stuff out right now, in honor of his birthday. Love the idea of doing that theme!
@D&S724, I'm not actually doing Dr. Seuss as a theme. I just liked the book signing as a keepsake idea.
My theme is It's a 'One'derful Birthday. I picked it since I planned on incorporating a lot of 1's everywhere anyway. Edit to add an o to doing, cuz I'm a DINGbat.
I was going to do a big theme party with either Dr Seuss or Candyland or 'One'derland. There were too many good ideas but I decided that this year we are going to keep it pretty simple and we will do a bigger theme when she is more aware of it.
There is too much going on at the end of May/early June so we will celebrate on the Victoria day weekend and invite my siblings with their familes. We already see them every day so it not a big deal. Maybe 20-25 people. Good food, fireworks and relaxing.
I will be stealing the book idea. I am going to have a mini chocolate fountain and a candy buffet. Old ideas but the kids love them. I am probably going to have a cotton candy machine and slushies. The bouncy castle will be next year.
May Flower theme. Doing big colorful flowers etc. Also going to have a little flower planting station for the kids. Her shower theme was "A Baby Girl is Blooming" so I figure this is appropriate given her birth month. Had she been born on her due date (June), I would have gone with Lady Bug.
We will just do a small gathering of family and friends at our house. In reality it will be like a family BBQ with some cake and presents. I have bought some cute purse and shoe candles and will probably use that as a guide to decorating.
I am doing Annabelle in Onederland. It will be a cross of Alice in Wonderland and vintage tea party. I am pretty excited. We are doing an Italian soda bar and taco bar. I am hoping it isn't snowy or crappy out.
I'm doing the same thing! I just can't decide between red and black ladybugs or go with pink and purple ladybugs for more colors. Some cute stuff out there for ladybug theme though

For my ODS we did a pumpkin patch theme...so you now know mommy is lazy and gets in season items for the parties.
