Talk to me about wine!

Until last night, I had never actually bought a bottle of wine just to have at my house.
I really know nothing about wine.
I do know that it tastes good, whether sweet or dry, but have no preference. So I was forced to ask the lady at the register.
I ended up with a bottle of pinot noir. Its pretty good.

Anyway, what's your favorite wine? Any super good brands?

I'm clueless.

Sangria and moscato are my jams. Both are sweet. I'm not into dry wines. Riesling is a bit sweet and tart if you're into that. I love Boordy wines ( Maryland winery), yellow tail is pretty good, and I like red guitar sangria.

I've many people tell me to get Reisling today. I think I might get that next itme. We have multiple local upstae new york  wines as well that I think I might try.

I am not a huge wine fan, but when I do drink it I prefer Moscato.  I will have to try Reisling now though.  I don't like dry wine at all.  I would be better off in most situations to just grape juice.  Lame, I know...

Trader Joe's has an exquisite (for the price!) bottle of white wine that has become my go-to bottle.  It's their Espiral Vinho Verde, and it's pretty dry, a little fruity, a little bubbly, and has no after bite.  And it's $4.49 a bottle.

H & I are also huge fans of TJ's green label prosecco ($6.99/bottle).

I love a lot o of wine but when I just want something affordable and almost always a decent red I go with malbec... it is a good affordable option at a lot of restaurants.

Riesling is my wine of choice. I don't like red wine generally, though I love red sangria. I also enjoy berry port wines, but those are basically sangria and usually expensive!

I like drier white wine - Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio usually. I quite like the "Wine Cubes" wine in a box from Target. Cheap and each box has 2-4 bottles worth (there are two sizes) and stays fresh for a month. You just hit the wine tap in the fridge whenever you want a glass!

I prefer white wine on the sweeter side. Riesling, moscato, Viognier are some of my faves. I'm not good with specific brands...not gonna lie, I usually pick the bottle that looks the coolest and that will display well as a candle holder when I'm done with it!

I had just started drinking wine before I got pregnant. I've have succumb to the popular. Santa Margerita Pinot Grigio is the most sought after white wine in restaurants. It's about $25 a bottle and worth every penny. I could literally drink a bottle in a handful of sips it is so delicious!

@JamieMW just looking for a glass after work/ with dinner. My mom gets a really good box that I like but I couldn't find it anywhere. Lol.

This is awesome. Thank you ladies so much!!! I just want to go buy so many! (just to taste of course). ;)

I tend to go for really big red wines - cabs, amarone. I do like something sweeter and white sometimes during the summer. And I never descriminate against a glass of prosecco or champagne if it's a real splurge!

WHAT?! Target sells wine??!! That would be my demise!! :) I wish they sold it here!!

That said, I'm a Chardonnay girl myself. I do not like sweet wine. And I can't drink red because of my migraines. Oaky buttery Chardonnay... Bogle is good.

If you like whites my favorite is a blend out of California called vina robles white 4. It's only $10 and it's wonderful! This wine is not sweet so if you like sweeter wines this wouldn't be a good pick for you.

Pinot Grigio is my fave. DH just bottled a barrel of pineapple pear Pinot Grigio. Mmmmmm! I like Barefoot & Oliver brands.

I second dr. Loosen! Mosel is also very good. Any German reisiling is delish! If you want to go cheap, barefoot moscato is very good for the price.

I love this thread--so many new recommendations to try :)

I admit to being a cheap wine girl myself. I like trying out bottles with interesting labels. I enjoy sweet reds, moscatos, Cabernet, and Merlot, depending on my mood. Some of my favorites are Barefoot, Mad Housewife, and Red Guitar sangria.

Another fan of Riesling over here... I started with moscato when I first got into wine because it is sweet and bubbly but it got too sweet. Riesling can be on the sweet spectrum but it can also have crisp and a little dryer profile (compared to moscato) so it's perfect for me. There is a bit of variety with Riesling, one of my favorites is Starling Castle.

I'm trying to get more into reds but sometimes I get such terrible headaches after only half a glass. One that I've tried that's a more mellow red is Ravenswood red zinfandel. It was still pretty bold for me but it was good and I think it's a good introduction to reds.

    I love this thread :)

Pinot Noir is my typical go to, but it depends on the situation. I'm not a big white wine fan unless it's a summer day and I'm having fish or something. I HATE Rieslings and dessert wines. I think they're gross.

I prefer grapes from Oregon/Washington and then a few Chilean and French wines.

Ok, now that the inital shock has worn off, let me see if I can help you.

If you liked Pinot Noir, that means you likely have a taste for drier wines. That being said, Pinot Noir is one of my favorites as well but I like all wines. ALL THE WINES!!!

Red -- Pinor Noir is my go-to, but I can also drink Cabernet Savignon.

White -- I don't like overly sweet wines, so I tend to stick with Pinot Grigio. It's sweeter than a Chardonnay but not as sweet as a Resisling or Moscato.

Some of my absolute favorites are by regional wineries (Traverse City, MI area) and are season. Witches Brew by Leelanau Cellers is my favorite fall wine (it's a red wine with a spiced flavor) and I also love Great Lakes Red by the same place. It tastes like Welches Grape Juice!

If you want to learn more about wines, I highly recommend you go wine tasting!! So much fun and very educational! I was intimidated to try it, but if you tell them you're brand new to wines they get all excited and love to talk and educate.

Oh! And if you're not looking to spend and arm and a leg on wine, my go-to brand is Barefoot since they have most varities for $5-$8/bottle, depending on sales.

I use to be a fan of reisling, but since having LO my tastes for wine have changed a bit (weird), I now like pinot grigio, and my favorite thing to drink is Cupcake Persecco.. I can't drink red wine, it always gives me a bad headache..
