Should I get a spray tan?

For the firefighters ball next weekend. I am so so pale this time of year, and it makes me hate the way my arms look. I have done it once before, and it turned out good, but then again it was at a time of year where I could have feasibly had a real tan. Now, not a chance. Do I just suck it up and go with my pale flabby arms?

Re: Should I get a spray tan?

  • I love the place here that did mine. A friend and I did it together in January one year before her anniversary. It looked natural even for that time of year. I say go for it.

  • Yes to tinted lotion.  Being a pale person myself, a spray tan is no good.

  • I got a spray tan 2 weeks before my wedding to try it, and I'm glad it wore off on time. The lady that worked there put it on the lightest setting and I still looked like an Oompa Loompa.

(It will depend on what your skintone is, I'm a pale freckly Irish girl. I also totally panicked and forgot the order of the poses, you should have seen me trying to do my own poses!)

Or how about forgetting to put lotion on your knuckles? That's always fun.

  • I receive spray tans from time to time for special events and such.

Shave while you shower before hand, moisturize well, get it done about two days prior for best color, and use a good moisturizer for the remaining time.  Also be sure to see someone with a sprayer and don't use those booths.  They do not work.

  • Thanks ladies, I'll see what is available around here. I'm afraid to do a tinted moisturizer myself, I don't want to miss a spot! I need to find someone who does it by hand.

Jealous! I did spray tan 3 times at different locations and it turned out awful! Lesson learned is don't do it few days before going to a black tie event!

    Good luck!

  • I use a booth and I never have issues. However, airbrushing will ensure an even tan. If I was wearing something that showed my arms this time of year, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
