moving!!

So we just got a new house. I've got almost everything packed just need to move it. I'm 10 weeks and my Dr said don't do anything I wouldn't normally do. I pick my 25 pound toddler 10000 times a day..should I actually be picking up and "moving" stuff? I feel like I'm in the way if I'm not helping, my husband knows were pregnant but we haven't told my family, BC we want to wait until after we move in and my first official Dr appt which is Tuesday. Help!

Re: moving!!

  • I definitely would not move the heavy stuff. If in question, don't move it. In my opinion, it's worth telling your family early if they question you. I have moved while pregnant as well, and still found myself useful as the director--telling people where I want things. Definitely makes unpacking a whole lot easier. Good luck, and congrats!

I lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis right now, but I've always done that. Like your doc said, don't do anything you normally wouldn't do so go ahead and help with the lighter things but save the heavy lifting for someone else. Listen to your body and stop to take breaks or stop altogether if you need to.

    Congrats on the new house!!!
  • Just be careful not to pull a muscle! I picked up one single bag of groceries on Sunday (I usually carry 4 by myself) and effing jacked up my shoulder. I did some internet research while waiting for the OBs office to call me back and apparently pregnant women are prone to muscle strains and tears because of hormones. I'm only starting to feel ok today and being pregnant meant no real meds for recovery.
  • Do what your body allows.  I know if I over do it I will feel Nauseous.  You can always make beds right away or unpack your kitchen.  If you feel tired take a break.  Just listen your body.
