This is the weekly June '14 PgAL check-in. This is a place for anyone due June 2014 that has suffered a previous pregnancy loss. PgAL is an exciting but scary place so please feel free to share your thoughts, concerns, milestones and vents. Mostly, this check-in is to remind all of us that we are not alone in the journey and to offer support along the way. Check-in is every Saturday.

Buying Stuff: Sorta! Last weekend we set up my dd's big girl bed and bought her a new dresser and bookshelf. Her room is all set up and we moved out all of the baby furniture into what will be the new nursery so that felt pretty big! It's stuff we would have been buying anyway for dd, but it was fun to move the baby stuff next door and kind of see what the nursery will look like.
I've been feeling pretty good the last week. I had a check up yesterday that went really well. I put on more weight than I liked to see but my midwife assured me that it can go in spurts and I was still on track so that was comforting. I'm feeling baby move a lot, she's very active compared to her big sister! And already experiencing Braxton hicks a few times a day which feels early but again the midwife said that was totally fine. Thankfully not a lot of PGAL crazy going on!
My next appt is March 10. We will do the GD screening and another ultrasound bc the tech wasn't able to get all the shots she needed at my anatomy scan. My hubby will be away for training but my mom will be in town so she's excited to go and I'm thankful I won't have to face an ultrasound alone!

physically/emotionally?
Yesterday was tough. Last Valentine's Day was when I got my BFP. I kept it a secret from DH allllll day (so tough!). I even convinced him I had gotten my period because he was so sure I was pregnant. I wanted to wait and surprise him that night. Around noon, I got a call from my sister saying she was in labor! I left work, stopped at CVS to get her a few things, developed the BFP picture, and was off to the hospital! It was so amazing being there for the whole birth. Little Benjamin was born at 11:00 that evening, 8lbs 10oz. DH arrived to meet him and to follow me home since I was exhausted! When we got to our house (after midnight), I convinced him we should exchange our cards. He opened it and found the picture and a message saying "Happy Valentines Day Daddy!" He was so floored! He immediately wanted to tell everyone, but I said it would be a good idea to wait a few weeks until we were in the safety zone. Unfortunately that time never came, as I miscarried a month later. We are glad we kept it to ourselves and have recently told some people about it here and there. Being pregnant again makes me feel at ease about telling people-I guess so they don't give us the "keep trying" speech. Also, not sharing the news definitely brought DH and I closer and we decided to take the summer off to enjoy ourselves before trying again in the fall.
Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? Feb 26- just a regular, normal, average, monthly check up- yay to no more blood work!

I want to get a stethoscope so I can monitor the baby's heart beat! Feeling it move around is reassuring, but I would like to know that little heart is beating away!

DH is not a big fan of the holiday and I am indifferent. We exchange cards, a little gift and never go out to dinner the night of, just because we hate fixed
menus that are overpriced!

How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Physically, I'm not feeling too bad. I have a kidney infection so that sucks. Emotionally, I'm up and down. I'm stressed about a lot right now so I"m trying to stay calm.
Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? i had my last cervical check this week! Everything was great. Now onto the growth ultrasounds that will start at week 28. I'm still getting my progesterone shots every week, only 12 left!

QOTW – What are your views and your SO's views on Valentine's day? Are they the same, different? I'm whatever about Valentine's Day. My husband thinks it's a holiday for the woman but since I'm not big on it, we really don't do much.

I'm in NYC visiting my cousin and we went last night to see Phantom of the Opera and my little guy was moving like crazy all through the second act!!!! I think he already has a love of musicals like his mommy!!! Yay!! That made me feel better!!

QOTW – What are your views and your SO's views on Valentine's day? Are they the same, different? We both share the same feelings for Valentines day, we don't like it!!! We have never celebrated! I don't need a day to remind me to do something nice for my DH. We do special things throughout the year for each other and that's how it should be!!!

I have second uti which is giving me CRAZY yeast (ugh) but the results of the second glucose test show I don't have diabetes so yay! for that.

For some reason and I know it's irrational but I worry about the baby's cord getting wrapped around his neck. My aunt had two girls and then a boy just like me and this happened to her when she was 8 months pregnant and they weren't able to save him. I need to get over this.
As for baby awesomeness, a colleague and myself organized a student production of the Vagina Monologues at our school (I'm a HS teacher) and we ordered Vagina Warrior t shirts to wear yesterday and they were women's cut and I don't usually wear such fitting tops BC I'm a big girl with humongous boobs

When we were younger (been together 16 years since HS) we totally used to go and do the cheesy dinner and presents exchange. Since we had the girls we focus it more on them. Sometimes we go out with them to a family oriented restaurant and we always get them sweets and stuffed animals. Last night we ordered yummy Turkish food and ate candy together

How are you feeling physically/emotionally?
Physically I'm doing good. Emotionally it's a little hard right now. I have been feeling movement, but throats two days it wasn't as consistent. So that has me freaked out! I do still feel her though.

QOTW – What are your views and your SO's views on Valentine's day? Are they the same, different? My view. I love chocolate and I love it more in holiday wrapping. That is pretty much all Valentines day is to me. H is super lovey-dovey and loves the mush of the holiday. I do something special for him.

Got the courage to buy anything yet? I've pretty much finished registering. I went to buy a pregnancy pillow last week and bought a couple of onesie sets that were on sale. I didn't register for any clothes (figure I will get them anyway) so I want to have a few things ready just in case.
How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? Physically, good except for heartburn and exhaustion. Emotionally, pretty good these days. Had my 24 week appointment last week and everything looked good on the ultrasound. It feels awesome to be past the halfway point!
Any PgAL crazy you want to add? Any baby awesomeness this week? Haven't been feeling the crazy for a while. Baby has been kicking and moving a lot which has been cool. I got my first "When are you due?" from a stranger yesterday so I guess I really look pregnant now!

Courage to buy anything? We are going to pick out the crib today with my parents and set up a dresser last weekend. We have started getting some cute clothes too..
How are you feeling physically? Emotionally? Well I took a fall in Thursday so I am trying to recover both physically and emotionally. My face is bruised and scratched and I feel like I was in a car accident. I can't help but worry that I hurt LO in the act of falling but I'm trying to stay positive.
Pgal crazies: just trying to keep my head up and push out any doubts or negative thoughts. He has been moving around more lately, so that helps. We have a regular check up on Tuesday and I can't wait to hear the little heart beat again.
Qotw: we are also pretty low key about celebrating valentines day. We always exchange cards and small gifts, but like to stay in a relax. I hate waiting or being out in the crowds to have dinner. We prefer to stay home and keep it mellow. Last night we enjoyed chinese take out

Got the courage to buy anything yet? Learned that I'll be getting a lot of hand-me-down baby girl clothes from a family we know from church! Since this is my second, I won't have to buy much other than clothes for this LO.

My MW appointment last week went good. I'm gaining weight a bit fast, but it's good that I know this and can keep it under control (I should be gaining between 15 and 25 lbs and have already gained around 15). Also starting to have those PG aches and pains, but so far they are not too bad. I'm thanking yoga for that!

The EDD of my loss was Feb 11 (last week). They day was a little hard because I thought of the loss every time I wrote the date, but I held it together better than I thought I would overall. I'm proud of myself for making it through :-)

Neither of us really like it much at all. Nice excuse for candy, though. My DH has more of a hatred towards the holiday, I'm mostly ambivalent. But we never go out to eat or buy eachother big presents or anything like that. And that's perfectly fine with both of us.

I keep telling myself that there are no obvious reasons why I should worry, so that's been helping. I have an appointment next Thursday (the 20th) that I am VERY ready for, a month is too long of a wait imo.
Any PgAL crazy you want to add? Any baby awesomeness this week? It has been a little tough not knowing if what I'm feeling is baby or not. It's not consistent yet but I do think I feel kicks every now and then. I am bigger, so I figure that could be contributing to it. I can't wait to hear her little heartbeat and know that she's ok! I'm also struggling with my weight gain... it's has been hard mentally to know that I need to gain weight when I've spend my whole life trying to avoid it. Especially since over the past few weeks I finally have an appetite back and I've been having some intense cravings. I know this should be the least of worries...

I'm not really into flowers but DH does like to do small things to make it special. I like to use it as an excuse to go out and get some good food and do something special like a movie.

I'm from Dublin,Ireland and have been married for 2 and a half years, we have a shih tzu called Pablo and are living for June.
I miscarried in August 2011 and may 2013, both mmc discovered at 11.5 weeks. So I feel totally blessed to be pregnant again but I over think everything and anything and just want to get to the 24 week mark as I have this irrational fear of early labour.

Doing ok except for my back being sore but mostly during the week when I am working and my hour commute to work.

We went out to dinner, got each other a card, I got hubby a gift card and he got me a box of chocolate. I so would love flowers but hubby is not big on flowers. Plus I just got 3 different arrangements last Sat for my 40th bday so I still have them. Hubby actually got some for me I was in shock, after 8 yrs this is probably the 3rd time he got me flowers. LOL
Fuccimama: I hope the bed rest does the trick! Please keep us posted; you're getting closer and closer to viability!

We both aren't so high on Valentine's day, although we do usually do at least something together. (Yesterday he bought roses and I cooked a nice dinner).

Got the courage to buy anything yet? Nope, but I tried to look at double strollers yesterday. Neither of the stores I went to had the ones we are thinking about, but I've heard of another store with tons of them, so sometime H and I will go try them out.
How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I am feeling pretty good. Viviana's constant movement is still really helping me. I have occasional moments of panic, especially thinking about how we'd explain it to Lucia if something happened, as she talks about Viviana all the time. But for the most part I am just enjoying watching the weeks pass as we get closer to viable. I have my next regular monthly checkup on Thursday. I am going to ask her to check for gallstones, so we'll see how that goes.
Any PgAL crazy you want to add? Any baby awesomeness this week? Nothing much. My belly is starting to visibly move, but just a tiny bit and you really have to stare. I'm excited for more of it as she gets bigger. The idea that we actually might take home a baby in 4 months is a little crazy!

QOTW – What are your views and your SO's views on Valentine's day? Are they the same, different? The same. Neither of us do anything crazy for the day, but we don't ignore it either. This year H got me a card, I helped Lu make him a card, and then instead of eating dinner with her we made a special date dinner after she went to bed. We just use the day as an excuse to spend a good amount of time together, which is great because he's been really busy with school recently.

We don't ever exchange presents for holidays or birthdays with the one exception of wanting flowers for V Day:). He did well this year with Lillie's and Tulips. I'm not a big fan of roses

Got the courage to buy anything yet? Yesterday we ordered the double stroller and have BBB searching for the dresser in the right finish - they discontinued it but think other stores may have the dresser to match DS crib and dresser
How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I'm exausted - I'm still on modified bedrest. My OB got called out on Monday for an emergancy C so i saw the NP instead and she couldn't tell me much more than my test results looked normal. I'm seeing the OB again Thursday. QOTW – What are your views and your SO's views on Valentine's day? Are they the same, different? We don't celebrate it - we bought a small gift for DS but nothing for each other. It's never really been my thing

Got the courage to buy anything yet? We find out if we're moving this Friday, so if not, we might start buying a few things. But since this is baby #2, the list of things we need to buy is like 4 things long.
How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? Great physically and emotionally.
After a really nauseous/throwy-uppy (that's a word, right?) first half of pregnancy, I am relishing getting to eat all the time and not feeling sick! This is the best part of pregnancy. 
No appointments for a few weeks - just chugging along.
Any PgAL crazy you want to add? Any baby awesomeness this week? I had a crazy moment this week sorta related to PgAL when I found out both of my BFFs who are pregnant (got pregnant the first cycle they tried, told everyone at 6 weeks, never worried about miscarrying, never worried about ultrasounds, got to assume everything would be perfect, etc etc) are having girls. I was already envious of their getting to have PgAL crazy-free pregnancies and getting excited so early, so now I feel left out again as they talk about how their girls will BFFs. Wah. (I guess this is the stuff I worry about now after the fear of having to see them go on with their pregnancies as I miscarry again starts to lessen...)
What are your views and your SO's views on Valentine's day? Are they the same, different? Same. I hate how people like women are all crazy and naggy about V-Day while men are clueless and forget. My husband is definitely MORE into romantic/sweet stuff than I am, but we never really do much.

We got paint for the nursery, but nothing's painted yet.
How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? Physically feeling really drained halfway through the day. Not sleeping very good. Other than that pretty good.
Any PgAL crazy you want to add? Any baby awesomeness this week? I have a serious case of nesting (not that crazy right) I just want everything perfect for the little man! I love feeling the little kicks and movements! DH got to feel him and see him move this weekend!

Got the courage to buy anything yet? We finally registered! That was completely stress free <--- sarcasm I did find an amazing deal on cloth diapers from a local internet business that is closing. 5 brand new Doopsies for $25! Among my 5 colors I picked out Purple and Yellow specifically for LSU!
How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? Physically - my heartburn is getting a bit out of control so I may call it in to the DR. Emotionally - I am overcoming the fact that I have unrealistic expectations for certain people and situations. No appts until March.
Any PgAL crazy you want to add? Any baby awesomeness this week? Sometime this week (i forgot the exact day because my brain doesn't function well anymore) It felt like my belly doubled in size. I made the comment to my husband that my belly felt like lead and he came around the corner and gasped saying my belly was huge all of a sudden.

QOTW – What are your views and your SO's views on Valentine's day? Are they the same, different? We are not crazy big on it and usually just exchange cards and a small gift (under $10).
@WoodsSeltzer09 - I agree, what stroller did you pick? I went out the other day to try to find a City Select and the side by side Baby Jogger stroller to push around, but had no luck. There's one more stroller store near us so we're going to try again soon.

amwangel we decided to go with the City Select but heard awesome things about the Graco DuoGlider Classic . It was just to big to fit in my trunk folded up.
MollySm we found City Select at Buy Buy Baby to test out they had a great selection - couldn't find them at Babies R Us at all
BTW supper excited just figured out this morning that my notifications were turned off

Got the courage to buy anything yet? I finally bought maternity clothes. For some reason, I just can't buy baby things yet. My mom says its time to register. I don't know why I can't make a purchase.
How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? Luckily, everything is going great! I have no major complaints. I even feel more comfortable discussing our loss, because DH and I didn't tell anyone when it happened.
Any PgAL crazy you want to add? Crazy has been kept at bay. With every passing week, my comfort level grows.
Any baby awesomeness this week? LO moves for her daddy. He gets very excited. I haven't felt her as much lately, but that's my anterior placenta.

QOTW – What are your views and your SO's views on Valentine's day? Are they the same, different? This year, I told DH that all I wanted was a love letter. After my request, he kept asking me what I wanted. I had to explain that he didn't need to buy anything, all I wanted was a heartfelt letter. My letter was great! Also, a co-worker saw him writing it and decided to write one for his wife. I hope she appreciated it.

Got the courage to buy anything yet? A dresser and some clothes. However, we are going to start looking at paint colors next week. So that's a start.
How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Physically - tired. My hips are now hurting, so sleeping is getting a little tougher. I have to keep rolling from side to side at night and my lil man is getting bigger and bigger so I feel him move every time I switch. Which is great most of the time. The only times I'm not as found of it is when he thinks it's time to get up between 2am and 4am and just kicks and pushes my cervix. Haha!! Emotionally- good this past week. Him moving really helps.

QOTW – What are your views and your SO's views on Valentine's day? Are they the same, different? Before I always wanted to celebrate it, DH would but didn't see the point. Now, we celebrate our way. Get take out and curl up on the couch to watch a movie. Just spending an hour and half alone with him is all I need. He spoils me through out the year, so V-day is a time for us to chill and relax together.

How are you feeling physically/emotionally? Any updates or appointments coming up you'd like to share? I am feeling good right now. Only because I can feel him move more and more everyday. At my last Dr. appointment they confirmed my delivery date at 37 weeks after we spoke to the high risk Dr. They also, stated that I will start to have my weekly (maybe even twice a week) appointments starting at 32 weeks. That is only 10 weeks from now....WOW!

I will be taking a buisness trip to Atlanta GA on Friday and will return on Monday. I have never flown at 22 weeks so this is new to me but Dr gave the green light. Just scared

I really envy people that have not experienced MC on their first run bc it puts such a different perspective on things when you get pregnant again. For me now, it's a totally different feeling based on fear of loss instead of excitement of the unknown.
