  It's too tempting to look at the posts. As we speak, the notifications keep rushing in and I guarantee you they're not very nice. It actually makes me pretty sad.

  Just don't read the notifications, and don't go to the first-tri board.  Trust me, things like this blow over pretty quickly.  In a few days nobody will remember or care what all the drama was about.  Then you can just focus on the boards you like more.

  Is the about your Papa Don't Preach post? No one was mean. You got honest advice. That's how most people are around here: honest and straight forward. I understand that you were joking about making prank calls, but you have to realize that tone doesn't come through on the Internet. Joy obviously thought you were serious and told you it was not a good idea. People gave you helpful advice about how to deal with your father. I don't know what more you would want. I think answers like that are much more helpful than sugar-coated bullshit. Also, you cannot flag people for a post you disagree with. It's an abuse button.

  I'm not really understanding this, it isn't like you can't see the existing posts even if you delete your account, you said the motivation to look was too great...do you mean notifications to email? can't you turn that off?
  Or just create a new acct & steer clear of any drama inducing topics if you want to still be a part of the boards for other reasons. I don't really know what your past issues have been about though...

  Even if you log out, the bump still sells your address (which is required for your account) and sends you junk mail and emails from websites and newsletters you didn't sign up for in the first place. I'm looking to delete my account as well, but can't find the right avenue. 

  
  

  If I had realized I was signing up to feel stupid and get snarky answers from people I don't know, I'd just talk to people on the bus. Was looking for helpful input, but that seems to only be about 40% of the traffic.

  Change the email associated with your account to a fake email address. Voila, no more annoying emails. Or mark them as junk and they'll go to your trash. Really it's not that hard.
