Hi -
I am going back to work on Tuesday and, besides the normal "holy crap I'm gonna miss my baby" feelings, I have a concern. Since he was a few days old, his natural rhythm had him having the best sleep from about 6-8 AM. I am incredibly lucky in that for the past 2 weeks or so he sleeps from about 10:30/11 to anywhere from 8-9 AM, waking once in the night (usually around 5:30 - 6 AM) to eat and goes right back to sleep
When I start work, I will need to be out of the house by 7:45 at the latest to get him to day care. And I will need to wake him, breast feed him, change him, etc. before going, so I figure I will need to wake him by 7 AM. I have tried putting him down earlier at night but he won't go to sleep unless it's after 10. Anyone experience this? Any advise about how to change his schedule (besides trying to slowly move his bedtime up which I've tried and failed)? Or should I try to get him up and ready at 6 when he's up for his middle of the night feeding and then hope he'll sleep through the drop off? Oh and he'll be 12 weeks old on Monday.
Thanks for your help!
Re: Timing issue for day care
It's nice to do that last late feed for me because he will sleep until 530. I'm afraid to let the 7-8 pm feed be bedtime and him start waking to feed again at 2 or 3 am when I need to be up again at 5 for work. Do what works for you and your LO.
I would get him changed before that 6 am feed and let him sleep til you need to leave. His routine may change once he's been in daycare
agree with PPs. I never had DS on a strict schedule. He sort of fell into one when he started day care. And he doesnt nap great there, so when we get home its literally dinner, 10 minutes of play, bath and hes ready for bed btwn 7 and 730 and sleeps straight until 630/7. Even now we are not really strict on a schedule. He takes a morning and an afternoon nap...but they are never at exactly the same time.
I would practice ur morning routine once or twice tho to make sure you are leaving yourself enough time. and try to do as much the night before as you can.
I agree w/ many of the others - daycare will probably exhaust him anyhow and he may start going to bed earlier just from that.
