High-Risk Pregnancy

+ FFN test at 26 weeks

So this is my 3rd pregnancy, history of PTL. I'm already getting the 17P shots weekly. With my last I had a +FFN at 31 weeks and went on another 5 weeks to just barely 37 weeks. Now of course getting a positive FFN result again and especially so early is making me nervous. I got 2 rounds of the celestone (steroid) shots already. What has your experience been with this?

  • Because I have a history of PTL and I've been contracting so I'm going to be doing the test every 2 weeks, I did the same in my last 2 pregnancies. It helps my OB know how to proceed. A negative result and we don't really worry but with a positive result then they gave me the steroids in case I do have the baby early.

  • Interesting they would do it do early. Were you in labor?
Ffn isn't a very accurate test. They get false positives a lot. Try and relax and stay positive

  • I had a positive at 24 and 1. Delivered at 37 and 5. I was on bedrest till 34 weeks though because I also had a short cervix. Be hopeful!
    BFP #1 (7/13/12) MC (8/14) 9 weeks. D & C 8/17.
BFP #2 (5/18/13) due 1/26/14. Grow baby grow!
    Its a surprise! Team green!

I'm a lurker I usually post in the may 14 group but I tested positive on the FFN as well at just shy of 27. That was last Thursday. I'm 27 weeks now. I went in for contractions and was diagnosed with an irritable uterus and put on modified bed rest for this week and maybe next. They said to not take the test overly seriously but to still cautious. The test predicts preterm labor within the next 7 to 10 days I was told after that if nothing happens they typically rule it was a false positive. The test has a high rate of false positives. Try and not freak out. The test does not mean that you will 100% go into labor...:)
