DH and I really don't do much for Valentine's day, but I bought 2 filet mignons to have for dinner tonight after the kids go to bed.
Last night, our nanny had to stay late (6pm) because DH was out of town. She typically makes dinner for the kids on nights like this, and I don't usually give her any instructions. She just finds something.
See where I'm going? She cooked the filets. DD1 doesn't eat steak - she ate a grilled cheese. So she cooked them both, gave a little bit to DD2 (11 months), and ate the rest of one. She left the other one for me for dinner. By the time I got home, it was cold and gross, so I just put it in the fridge. Also, she dredged it in flour before she cooked it - almost like chicken fried steak... with a FILET.
I'm really annoyed. But it's probably on me, since I didn't specifically tell her NOT to cook them. Oh well. Takeout it is.
Re: SWMR - Valentine's day vent
My jaw dropped. That... SUCKS. I hope y'all are at least having a tasty wine with your takeout tonight.
Or is she young? I never learned to cook as a kid/teen, and it's only in my late 20s that I learned to identify Filet Mignon from any other cut of beef.
Yeah, I wouldn't get in to the passive-aggressive space with your nanny. That is a great way to harm a working relationship.
Maybe some wouldn't be bothered by it, however.
Sorry, OP. Have a glass of wine and laugh it off.
Both of my kids have eaten dog food, I guess that's my Friday confession.
I just went to the store and bought filets after reading this post.
Sorry this happened OP. I'd be annoyed to, not at the nanny, just that it happened, but would probably pick up a couple more steaks on my way home.
But steak in flour? - I would give her a proper recipe just to make the world a better place
My old babysitter when I was young would bring tupperware over to our house and box up our leftovers to take home with her. My mom could not understand where the two lasagnas she had made for the week had gone by Tuesday...and she was not 22!
