First of all Happy Valentine's Day ladies! I hope you all have a relaxed day planned whether you stay in or go out!
Tomorrow I will hopefully be starting injections for IVF cycle #2. My last cycle I got 27 eggs and got OHSS. I would really like to try to avoid getting it again so I can try another go with a fresh transfer with PGD! I know there's no guarantee and OHSS can't really be avoided but what were the tips you were told to do while stimming to help with preventing OHSS? I know keep myself hydrated and drink lots of water, Gatorade, eat lots of protein and salty foods. Anything else? My nurse also said to avoid caffeine and alcohol.
Thanks in advance ladies!

1st u/s - It's TWINS!!!!
2nd u/s- both babies measuring on track! Heartbeats of 118 and 122!!
I had mild OHSS during our fresh cycle. When I started getting into the OHSS "danger zone", our RE put me on Cabergoline (I think the brand name is Dostinex). Plus what you mentioned - chugging fluids w/ electrolytes and eating extra protein. (FYI- the Special K protein shakes are pretty good!) I still felt crappy for a few days, but it seemed like that plan prevented it from getting worse.
At my clinic they triggered with HCG and Lupron to avoid OHSS. I had 43 retrieved and my recovery was the best it had ever been - but we were doing an FET afterwards, so I'm not sure if the Lupron messes that up.
Maybe ask your doc about it or someone here will remember the details on that.

I think adjusting stim doses and type or amount of trigger makes more of a difference than what you eat or drink.
I had really high E2 levels but coasted on stims and did a half dose of hcg trigger, and I was able to avoid OHSS.
Married 8/2008.
IVF with PGD March 2013.
3/22 ER: 25R, 20M, 15F. 9 genetically normal, and 3 survived to Day 5
