Infertility

I'm new!

Hi! I've been reading through everyone's posts for sometime now so today I thought I would finally introduce myself. I turn 29 later this month and my husband is 28. We are high school sweethearts, we've been together for about 13 years and married for almost 7 years. After a year of trying we found out this fall I have PCOS and he has severe MIF. Currently I'm on BCPs as apart of a long lupron protocol for our first round of IVF with ICSI. We are hoping to have a mid March ER.

I have my HSG this afternoon, any words of wisdom?

Me- 29 PCOS DH- 28 Severe MIF

Married Since June 22, 2007- highschool sweethearts : )

TTC Since 2012

testing concluded strait to IVF w/ ICSI only choice

IVF w/ ICSI #1 March 2014- delayed due to AWFUL SA post flu w/ fever beginning of Feb.

IVF w/ ICSI #1 re-scheduled April 2014

Re: I'm new!

  • Welcome!  We are on a similar cycle.  I anticipate my ER being a bit closer to the end of March.  Please join the March group when check-ins start in a couple of weeks.

You'll hear a wide range of experiences re the HSG.  For me, it was a piece of cake.  Good luck!

  • Ok, I didn't know if it was ok to join because I am new...but thank you so much, it will be great to go through this journey with others who actually understand!

did you go by yourself to your HSG?  My husband has the flu so he's not able to, now I'm feeling a little nervous and wish I had asked my mom to come.

  • My husband went with me, but he really didn't need to.  I honestly think that I needed someone to drive me TO the appointment and that I would have been fine driving myself back home.  You should get the results on the spot.  If you get good news, you'll be on cloud nine driving home.  However, since you are moving right to IVF, it doesn't matter if your tubes are blocked.

Actually, I don't understand why someone would need an HSG if they are moving right to IVF regardless.  I just had an SHG to prep for IVF.  Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

  • I went alone for my HSG. For the first one, It was slightly  uncomfortable, i can't lie! I took two ibuprofen before hand and I just had minor cramping after. ( I do have to say that there was some blockage in my tube which may have been why it was so painful. With my second HSG, it was cake. He was over before I thought it started and I forgot to take the ibuprofen with that one!
    Good Luck!

Welcome-I am also PCOS with MFI.  Isn't it amazing how often both partners have "issues" for fertility?
I couldn't agree more! Both me and DH have issues that are severe. Although making things more complex, I can't help but like it a little. It keeps the resentment out of it. We both feel guilty and both support the other.

  • I'm also new...I've been reading these blogs like crazy since my story began.  My husband and I met 12 years ago I'm 29 he's 30 and we had been TTC naturally for a year and then we both got tested.  We found out he has testicular failure and is unable to have children.  It took a while to set in and then we decided we would like to use donor sperm.  i have had 3 IUI cycles with clomid, 2 with Femara and had one with Follistim.  I was able to get pregnant (11/13) with the Follisitim but soon had a m/c at 5 1/2 weeks(12/13).  I just had my now 8th IUI, second with the Follistim.  I'm 5 days since my insemination and just about at the end of my rope.  I'm having ovarian pressure on both sides and of course just keep thinking about everything.  We have one more IUI sample and then it's off to IVF.  My husband wanted me to try IUI for 9 times...so then IVF time...Thanks all for letting me vent to others who are in a similar situation as myself.  Hope to hear from some positive people!
