Anyone else feeling meh? about Vday?

I don't know, for some reason I'm just feeling meh about this whole holiday.  Anyone else?  I'm a pita who doesn't like being told what to do though, so telling me to love people on a certain day doesn't really do it for me. ;-)

  • Just another day here, always has been! We don't celebrate.  And I'm not the wife that says "don't get me anything" but then gets sad when he actually doesn't. I truly mean it.  Don't waste your $$ on a day where you feel pressured to buy something for me because you're supposed to, means jack shit to me.  Give me something next week when YOU think to do so... and it will feel and be 100x more special ;)

We do give DD something, though.

I am in the "meh" club too.  DH got me a sweet gift, though.  He came in the door yesterday with a box from a bakery by his work with 2 cupcakes, 2 different pumpkin flavored treats, and a cinnamon roll in it (all my well-known faves!)

  • Just another day here too.  DH actually bought me flowers on Wednesday...he didn't even realize Valentine's Day was this week until I started making DD's Valentines for school last night! LOL

  • We don't do much but we always have pizza/wine and movie night.  Nothing super special, no big gifts but we have been emphasizing the importance of having some family time!
  • I did have to bite my tongue in another group this week.

Many of the women get completely ignored by their husbands on Valentine's Day. (And their birthdays. And Christmas. And their anniversaries...) This is a known thing. The group is several years old.

And yet one woman has the gall to post a complaint that her husband always gives her diamonds and gold no matter how many times she tells him she'd rather have chocolate-covered strawberries.

    It was not a joke.

Too many diamonds and gold?  Is that even possible?
