every so often (may a couple times a day or every other day) I get what feels like my uterus is squeezing or being twisted or like a crampiness and then it relaxes and usually goes away. It's not painful - just weird and uncomfortable.
I asked my OB and he said this was my uterus growing and that if it was persistent and painful or the bleeding got worse, then it was an issue....
Has anyone else had this? I just want to make sure all the squeezy, stretchy things I feel are normal.
Re: twin moms - uterine contractions?
Sounds like BH contractions to me. Mine started around 14 weeks. Just keep an eye on them and if you get more than 4 an hour, call your OB. I went to L&D for the first time at 19 weeks (but they were painful that time) and was on modified bedrest at 24 weeks and complete BR at 28 weeks. At 24 weeks it was because I was contracting every 10 minutes consistently so they were trying to avert any problems, no changes in my cervix at the time. I was allowed to work 4 hours per day then go straight home, lay down and do nothing else. I was placed on strict bedrest at 28 weeks because my cervix had funneled, shortened, and I began to dilate.
Good luck, it is normal, but just keep an eye on them and call if you are ever not sure.
thanks for the reassurance. I think they come and go and haven't been consistent over any period of time. I've also noticed that I get a little crampiness as I go from sitting to standing or vice versa.
I was also told that L&D wouldn't see me until 24 weeks...but I think as I get closer to 20 weeks that is where I will go if I have more issues....
As I get to 20-ish weeks I think I will also try to get in to see my peri every couple of weeks - their sonographer is awesome...
I am going to totally speak from personal experience, and not medical fact, so my opinions are really opinionated from what happened to me, and just because it happened to me doesn't mean that it will happen to you.
Have you been bleeding at all? I bled all throughout my pregnancy (lightly) and felt crampy all the time. My OB told me that it was normal. Then, 4 days before my boys were born at 18 1/2 weeks (way to premature, but very healthy) my OB said everything looked good, but that my uterus was a lot lower than before. She said it was the weight of the twins. She never did a cervical length or took into account that my "cramps" were actually contractions, otherwise she would have noticed that my cervix was shortening (due to the pressure placed on the cervix because of the twins) and I was in the beginning stages of labor. My mucous plug came out on a Friday (I had no idea what it was) and on Sunday my water broke. Later that day, I delivered my boys.?
I switched doctors and now have a perinatologist as well. The plan is that once I get to 12 weeks, I am going to have cervical lengths taken, and possibly have progesterone injections to prevent cervix shortening from happening again, although because I have a singleton this time around, I probably won't need the progesterone injections.
I have told that because I had trouble conceiving (due to PCOS), I should have been considered high risk all along. Unfortunately, I didn't know.??
Take care of yourself, and follow your gut. Doctors don't know everything, and many times they won't treat you any differently than their "normal pregnancies" unless you have had a history of problems and pregnancy losses.?
