PLEASE HELP! Need traveling advice

I am so lost as to what to do! First off, we are moving from Florida to Washington (the state) when my DD is 4 months old. We WERE planning to stop and visit with family but they live in 3 different areas about 2 hours away from each other so we would have to visit with one family for 6 days, pack up and go to the next for 6 days, and pack up again and visit the other family. They all live in Georgia / South Carolina. We met up with my parents last weekend at a hotel and my DD (3 months now) did not like all the change and having strangers in her face. It was miserable. Now we are thinking the best option is to just drive straight to Washington (flying is NOT an option) and not bother visiting family. I just hate it because I really want to visit with my grandparents (my grandfather is getting old) and I know my husband wants to see his family. We just don't want to stress out DD and possibly get her sick with all those faces (we'd probably see about 25 people throughout out total visit. DD hated being held by my parents and having them in her face, and I don't want to do that to her BEFORE our long journey because that would just stress her (and me!) out. Please help! Anyone have any experience with this? Any advice as to how we can visit with family and keep DD feeling comfortable?

  • I would visit with family- you domt want to regret not visiting them - she will be fine, ds2 doesn't love going from place to place but I have no choice bc his older brother is in activities so he has to deal, that's life ya know? She will be fine... It will be an adjustment for sure but your don't want her to only ever see you and dh or you won't ever get a break and mommies need breaks :)

  • I would visit. My dd hates lots of people around and cries when anyone but me holds her so I get it. Just tell them she's in a clingy stage and needs lots of naps so you can hold her most of the time and sneak off to a bedroom when she's overwhelmed.

  • Can the family visit you in either old or new place? I wouldn't visit TBH esp before a long journey. That's stressful enough for the little one
  • No we are too far away for everyone to travel down here

  • I would visit the family now. If FL is too far for them to visit you, Washington state will be impossible.
