Yeah, Connor has a little bit of bruising on his face, luckily they go away in a few hours.. except his chin he hit that hard a few days ago pushing his activity table like a walker. For a few days his new thing was to slap the activity cube metal bars... no, you wonder why you are crying hun... you can't smack metal.
I hate seeing him hit his head, bending over, falling down while walking, and reaching for things... but it teaches them to be mindful of where their body is.
DS was playing with one of those 4 piece wood puzzles. He took two pieces and banged them together like cymbals which was fun until his face was in the middle of them. Boy was he mad!
LO has given herself a few too. Although her worst one came from a little boy at daycare. He was mindful of where he was walking but not where he was swinging his big toy tractor...conk right into her forehead. It only bothered her for a few minutes, but my head hurt for her.
It's totally normal. My pediatrician told me not to worry about the bruises on the kids. She said she is more worried about kids without bruises because it means they aren't active enough.
My thoughts exactly! I was going to say something along the lines of not having any bruises (ever) is of more concern than the normal ones that come from learning their limits, but I like hearing it from your pediatrician better.
I also wanted to let you ladies know that this stage doesn't last very long, so take heart! DS starting pulling to a stand and trying cruise at 6 months, and now at 10 months is full on walking. He still falls at least twice every day (usually more) but he hardly ever gets bruises anymore...and hasn't for a while.
