Activity & tummy time

What is everyone doing for activity and or tummy time for 1 - 2 month olds? LO usually falls asleep as soon as he's placed on his tummy.

Re: Activity & tummy time

  • I bought an activity mat for tummy time that has a mirrored surface on it. DS gets a kick out of it.

He has this leap frog dog called scout that plays music among other things. I'll have that play music and make the dog dance in front of him. He loves it

  • He still does a lot of tummy time on me. He's not a fan of being on his stomach, so being on me helps.

  • I have an activity mat she lays on and I kind of wiggle the toys in her face. I also have a bouncy seat I sit her in and show her toys and read her books. She doesn't like to lay on her tummy yet but I try it every day.

  • I put LO on his tummy on his activity mat, but propped up on the little pillow it came with. That helps him enjoy TT more. I rotate through 3 different toys. I make them dance and sing to him. :)

Same here DS will lay on his mat for several min before he gets fussy. I will lay him most days for a bit facing me and take a different rattle one at a time and move it so he can follow it with his eyes, enjoys that.

Edit hit post before I actually finished
  • Do you have a boppy you could have LO lay on for TT?  My little guy stays more awake when I use that.

  • My apartment is too small for tt so I think I will start when we move. I'll have him on his stomach on me or on the bed after a change. Only for a short time though.

  • For TT I isually just lay next to her and talk to her/encourage her. If she's fussy I'll take a toy and distract her with it. She spends a lot of her awake time laying on her back kicking and I'll dance toys around her. I try to point out things on the toys like colors, number of legs, facial features, etc. I'll read books, sing songs, make silly noises. So far her favorites are r2d2 chirps and Betty boop-like boops.
