Pinned L&D announcement thread?

How do you guys feel about pinning a L&D announcement thread? I saw it on another board and loved the idea. Scary to think about, but these babies are going to start coming... Hopefully not too soon.

Directions would be as followed. I or someone else can make a new thread that will be pinned and when you have your baby you or your labor buddy (not sure where we ended up on that) can update it.

This post is intended to keep fellow M14ers updated on anyone that is in L&D and/or has given birth recently.

Directions:
1. Please post directly on the board so that others can see any updates from you/your labor buddy.

2. Please post the link to your original post in this thread so that anyone that missed your OP will be able to stay updated.

3. You can then post updates as you see fit (either in your original post linked here or by starting a new post on the board). Keep in mind that any new post that is started would need to be linked in this thread as well.

Thoughts? Comments, complaints, suggestions?

Discuss. Or love tit if you love it and are to skerred to say so out loud.

I think it's a good idea if we say the only comments in the pinned thread should be links. Then it's basically just a list of babies born. But then updates and people who want to say congrats should go to the actual post for that.

No more pinned posts please!! It's getting annoying on my phone that I have to scroll past like 6 pinned posts first.

Maybe a L&D post could replace the "What team are you on" post. That will be pretty irrelevant once the babies start arriving, anyway.

Also, could we just add the May Badges to the Blog? Or unpin it, but then link it in the siggy post? Seems like everyone who wanted a badge in their siggy probably has it by now.

How I pictured it was ONLY L&D announcements in the thread no comments, for those people should refer to the posters linked thread.

i.e. Baby MB born May ___ @ ____. Birth story here: [linky]

Having BTDT I know that once I had my early September baby it was hard to keep up with other babies born later in the month because I was distracted. Just trying to think of a way to keep it all in one place.

I agree the current pinned posts need to be cleaned up.

Or would we still be doing that also?

Me too. Which is why I don't really want a labor buddy. :P

Me too. Which is why I don't really want a labor buddy. :P

I think every baby deserves its own thread. This would just be an easier way to find them if you're not on TB for a couple days and think "I wonder who had babies while I was away" or "I wonder how [bumpie] is doing since the baby came"

November and December 13 both had Birth Announcement threads that were pinned. People would post once they had their babies, with the date and any other stats or pics they wanted to share. If they wanted to go into more detail, they'd just create their own thread on the board. Congratulations/comments/discussions would happen in those individual threads, not the pinned one. The idea of the pinned thread was just to have a master list of everyone's announcements, and to keep track of who's already had their babies and when.

I like the idea, personally. It made it a lot easier when I was stalking those boards, at least, to see which bumpies had already had their babies so I knew whether to spend time searching for their birth story threads or if it hadn't happened yet.

I like it! The pinned "index" of birth threads would make it so much easier to find specific people once all of our lo's start showing up.

I like the index idea with links to individual threads, especially if we clean up the existing stickies.

I lurked on Feb I think and saw this. I think it's a good idea. Just make sure to remind people not to comment on the pinned thread.

Ive seen it on the other boards and I love the idea. It makes it easy to find all the stories, rather than scrolling through various pages.

Can I also suggest that instructions for how to pin the birth story post are added as well? I'm usually mobile so I have no clue how to do that. Can it be done mobile? Love the idea though!

Did you mean how to post a link? I'm not exactly how sure to do it on mobile. I'm pretty sure it just comes down to copy/pasting, which might be different on different phones.
