Twins + New Baby?

Anyone have toddler twins and a new baby on the way? I'm thinking about strollers. Would you try to find a stroller to accommodate 3 kids? (Not necessarily a triplet stroller, but maybe like one with 2 seats and a place for a toddler to stand?) or maybe I'll just have a double stroller and wear the baby for as long as possible? To be honest- we probably won't be going much of anywhere, ha!! Without my husband's help anyway! And If I have his help I can push a single stroller with baby and he can push the twins in double stroller. Sorry for the long winded post: any suggestions or advice??

Re: Twins + New Baby?

  • I haven't but people in my MOTC club have wore the infant for as long as possible.  And depending on the twins' age- you might not use the stroller as much when the baby gets to much to wear.  My guys are almost 3.5 and we haven't used a stroller in 6 months.

How old will your twins be when the baby arrives?

Baby wearing would definitely be the cheapest option.

Or, if you have an existing double stroller that can carry an infant seat w adapter maybe look into a ride-on board for the other twin that will fit your existing stroller, if you think they will be mature enough to stay on the board attachment. I know Lascal makes a few universal boards. (Edited to add: Google  Universal Stroller Boards  and you will find several brands)

I bought a used tandem made by Joovy (big caboose) that I haven't used yet since the little guy is still in the NICU. My twins are still huge Flight Risks at this age. The idea was for keeping everyone together & safe when I'm doing errands, out at dr appts, or church nursery drop offs. The stroller came with 2 universal carrier adapters and 2 snack trays. It's not for hills or jogging. It's also big and a challenge to fit into the trunk, but I stink at baby wearing and don't want to rely on someone else always helping me just to go somewhere.

  • Totally going to depned on the age of the twins.  If they are a flight risk, I'd go with something like the Joovy Big Caboose, where one is a sit/stand option.  I have the opposite situation.  So I put my toddler in the cart, push that, and pull the double tandem behind me containing the twins.  Everyone is straped down somewhere and can't just take off.  My almost 3 yo is not completely trustworthy in the listening department.  If we go out as a family, I have the double stroller and tuck a single umbrella stroller under it to use if neceesary and one of us can push that.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!

  • No advice but I'm in the same boat so I will be watching this thread. Just found out I'm pregnant and my girls are only 6 months! Congratulations to you and h & h pregnancy.
