Tentative Intro

Hey Ladies,

I hope you don't mind me introing. I've lurked a bit in the past. The reason I've hesitated is because I'm on 110% sure that we are one and done. My husband says that he is, without a doubt, DONE and has even mentioned getting a vasectomy at some point. As of right now, I'm one and done but I know myself well enough to know that I could change my mind. Thing is that we are both fairly young (I'm 28 and he's 36) and our son just turned 1. So, even though we both feel this way now who knows what could happen in a few years? Anyway, if we do ever have another baby I would prefer a bigger age gap (like 4/5ish years) so it would be a while.

All that said, the main reason I'm introing is because I've noticed a lot of ladies (Both IRL and on my BMB) are getting baby fever and/or pregnant with number 2. Or, at least plan to be pregnant in the next year or so. That is just sooooooo not where my head is at right now. I don't even have the slightest bit of baby fever. Frankly, the idea of being pregnant and having another baby sounds terrible to me right now. I'm really enjoying our son and feeling extremely content as a family of 3.

OK, that was kind of a long explanation. Let me know if I'm in the wrong place.

Hey Kim. Thanks for introing! We sound exactly the same. My son is 15 months and I have friends with toddlers around the same age who are planning on TTC later this year to have kids around two years apart. Cannot even imagine that. I also have friends who have new babies and while they are super cute I am just not interested! I look at my super adorable toddler who is so interactive and gives me kisses and I would just rather have that. I'm a little older (33) but my husband is younger (29). Due to my career (lawyer) I'd prefer a 3-5 year age gap as well if we have a second. It would be really hard for me right now to take another maternity leave. That being said, we love our son and both have incredibly busy and happy careers and would like to travel, buy a home (difficult in NYC) and still enjoy our hobbies (my exercise classes are not cheap) so we may be OAD. Husband is more certain we are OAD than I am also and I'd never want to "talk him into it." Anyway, that is all to say WELCOME. YOU ARE HOME.

Thank you! Yes it does sounds really similar. My husband is also more sure then me but we are mostly on the same page. I actually only work part time (accounting - 15 hours per week) but my husbands schedule is CRAZY. He works in the restaurant industry and as if that isn't enough he's also a worship leader. He has a flexible schedule but works a minimum of 6 days a week. Anyway, we actually haden't planned to have children (happy accident) but it turns out being a parent is AMAZING. Best job ever. Much like you, we enjoy a certain lifestyle and we both come from large families were there was never enough of of anything. We have no desire to recreate that even though I know it's part of the reason I am who I am.

Thank you! I thought your cutie looked familiar! Our BMB is part of the reason I came looking for this board! I feel like everyone is getting KU and/or has baby fever over there and I just can't relate! Glad to see a familiar face!

Nope! You didn't scare me! I'm back for more. Ive just been trying this new thing lately where I actually DO THINGS while the baby is sleeping. We will see how long that lasts. Anyway, you guys are hilarious! Love that my post got hijacked!
