Adoption

Here we go

Well, we have officially begun. we decided on an agency last night and have begun the staggering amount of paperwork.  I am excited and also experiencing intense emotions. After almost 2 years of disappointment, this feels like another exercise in futility.  I am hopeful and we do feel 'better' about this but still…..  Also, the agency is very intense about the low number of adoptions in our state and our same sex status precluding some families from choosing us.  We get it, but it's a little sad to hear.

Either way, I am hoping to become more active with you all here and am glad to have you all around!

  • Good luck and keep us posted.

Also, I find it very sad that your same sex status will make a difference to potential matches.

  • Welcome!! The paperwork is so overwhelming, but it's just one step closer to your baby. I hope your wait is short!

After 1 IUI, 3 IVF's with CGH/CCS testing, 10 early miscarriages, and lots of tears and frustration, we are moving on to Domestic Infant Adoption!  We are so excited to see what the future holds.

  • Congrats!! We are still deciding on an agency but got the same speech "Colorado (where we live) has a very low placement percentage so be prepared to wait"... kind of discouraging but I believe it will happen when it's meant to... good luck to you and DW!

  • Congratulations, good luck & here's hoping your wait isn't long!

We are working with an adoption consulting agency and have been very fortunate in our journey so far. Our wait time after finalizing our home study and getting put on the 'ready to go list' to being selected by a birth mom was only five weeks. Our baby girl will be born in a different state than we live and we'll have to travel there for her birth but we are perfectly fine with it. Not sure if you've looked into it or are even interested but if so, I'd be glad to share some information with you.
