Baby gates for odd configuration (pic included)

I have the big ticket items on my registry at this point. I'm starting to fill in with other essentials. I live on the 2nd floor of a 2 family home. Stairs are a safety issue and I want to register for a gate. The set up is so weird though and I'm not sure what kind of gate is best for the area. One side is a wall which is perfect for anchoring but the other side is a skinny metal rail. I'm a FTM so I have no idea if there are products that even go in an area like this. Anyone have any suggestions??

    They do sell adapter kits that you can add onto your baby gate like this one https://www.kidco.com/products-page/installation-aids/k100/

    Or custom fit ones if you'd rather just section off a larger area https://www.kidco.com/products-page/extra-wide/g3000/

    Is there any way to just put the gate sooner than the top of the stairs? That would be my favorite option. That is what we did at our old house since you could put in in the hallway past all the spaces I wanted him to roam freely in anyways (the only thing on the other side was the second bath but it was better to keep him out of there anyways). I see a doorway to the left you could put a gate but can't tell if the right is just open space

    You could zip tie a 2x4 onto the rail part then mount the gate to that.

    You could try zip-ties on the side with the railing? I saw someone do this on their stair railings.

    I would do that except that doorway leads to the kitchen and bedrooms. The top of the stairway opens directly into my family room where we would be spending most of our time. Thank you all for the suggestions def gonna check out my options. I was really stumped on this one!
