High-Risk Pregnancy

Low progesterone at 11 weeks

Hi so I'll be 12 weeks pregnant tomorrow. Monday I wiped and had small nickel size clot. I had been spotting since 5 weeks. I was on pio until I hit 10 weeks, my progesterone was always low on the pio. They checked right before I ended it and it was 24, so they told me to discountinue I was very nervous it would drop but they reassured me placenta would kick in anything over 20 is good. So after I passed clot I went for ultrasound and prog level as re suggested if I bleed after stopping pio and if under 20 restart pio. Well tues evening I finally was called with prog level being 7.9. I was in panic, restarted pio. RE now says she wouldn't bother b/c at 11 weeks they don't usually monitor levels to know what's good. My ob doesn't know anything about how long I should be on it just states I can't stay on it througout. I also asked does this mean there is something wrong with placenta since it's not producing. She said ultrasound was perfect placenta in good position not tearing. I'm terrified if I stop pio I will lose baby, my drs seems to be clueless and I can't trust their guess with my baby's life. I'm trying to educate myself. I was wondering if anyone has had something similar happen good or bad. I go back to ob on 27th and thinking to request appt with high risk dr, hopefully one that believe in progesterone.

Re: Low progesterone at 11 weeks

  • I would consider at least doing a consult with a high risk ob. If nothing else but to get a second opinion.

    Keeping my fingers crossed!
