Success after IF

got locked out of our house last night... good times.

i left work yesterday at 3 and went home to bake haha - we are hosting christmas eve dinner per usual and i traditionally bake pear tart and flourless chocolate cake... so i thought, what better thing to do when you're pg with twins? ;)  i took it easy though, sat in a stool a lot.

but i digress.

when michael came home we ran out to grab some chinese food... and when we got back, his house key had mysteriously disappeared from his keychain..... and it was like 20 degrees out which added to the fun.  he went around the whole house trying to find an unlocked window.  unfortunately, or fortunately, he wasnt able to break into the house.

we ended up sitting in our neighbor's living room while we waited for a locksmith, and paying $100 to be let into our house.  it was the funnest ever. ;)  seriously though, it ended up being fine, but today we are GETTING EXTRA KEYS MADE! ;)  and giving one to our neighbor.

  • That happened to us twice a couple of years ago and now we hide a key outside!

  • OH Man, that would not be fun. I have been locked out of my car but not the house yet. At least your neighbor let you stay there.

  • Fabulous!  Ho ho ho!

I haven't been locked out in a long time (and my mom who lives nearby has a key) but when I was growing up breaking into my own house was like a once a week event.  Good times.

  • Ugh!  That's annoying.  When we had a big remodeling project going on, the contractors installed a lockbox for our key outside (you have to know a code to unlock the box which holds a house key).  It was so wonderful, we now have our own.  It works great if you lock yourself out, but also if you have family, friends, or workers that you trust at your house when you aren't there.
