When about should I start producing milk and or leaking? I'm 7 months and 5 days right now. They asked me on this calendar on here if I was, and I thought it was kind of early ? No? Also! When I tell people I'm breast feeding I feel like I'm being attacked ! They are always like "you know it's a lot harder than it sounds" and "good luck with that" no support, it can be aggravating.
Re: Breast feeding!
Stop worrying about everyone else. You'll do what's best for YOUR child. BF can be difficult, there is a whole host of things that could lead you to FF, but just get all the information you can to help work around any issues you may encounter, and keep an open mind.
Like Kat said above, do your own homework and make the choices that are best for you and your child. At the end of the day, that's what matters. You can always respond, too, that you're aware of the challenges but that you'd like to give it a shot and would appreciate support instead of sarcasm.
If you're planning on breastfeeding I highly recommend taking a BFing class before baby is born. BFing is much much harder than I could have ever imagined. And we didn't have any issues, in fact it probably went as smooth as possible. But it's hard and you have to know what to expect. The better prepared you are the more likely you are to succeed. I was really glad I took the class.
I feel like telling them "guess what?! I know it's going to be hard, but that doesn't mean I won't/can't persevere and do it!" I've done plenty of things that were "hard" and managed to figure it out. I agree it's a really weird comment.
I think some of these comments come from all of the criticism for and against breastfeeding. People feel like they have to defend their choice by bashing yours. Not cool!
