  I like Stride Rite, Robeez, and Smartfit (from Payless) for babies learning to walk. Make sure you go somewhere like Stride Rite or Payless where they will actually measure your LO and get shoes with a thinner flexible sole. I usually get Stride Rite for everyday and the Smartfit for things like dress shoes & sandals.

  I'm a fan of old navy crew socks for O. We also have trumpettes as @beaubecca suggested. I like the old navy socks because they have a good amount of traction and O hasn't been able to pull them off....yet.

  We have koala kids booties which have worked out great. They are nice and warm, flexible and difficult to remove for babies!
