Switching drs at 15 weeks?

Hi. I currently see a male dr out of SLR. I have mixed feelings on him. I need a bit more of a hand holder, someone patient, doesn't rush me and is responsive via email or phone. I'd prefer someone affiliated with Cornell Weil as I have heard it gorgeous compared to other NYC hospitals. Can anyone confirm this? Or suggest a dr male or female with patience and genuine warmth who is also a kick ass dr? And takes insurance! Thank you

    I know you just changed from SLR but have you thought about Louise Chuu?  I switched to her last week at 16 weeks and I really couldn't be happier.  She made me feel very comfortable about changing drs and is very easy to talk to.  She seems very down to Earth and calm (granted I haven't seen her in a crisis situation and I really don't hope I have to!).  If you are dead set on Cornell, you could always check the providers page for Cornell and search for reviews of anyone that looks like they might match what you are looking for.  

    I hope this helps or that you can get more recommendations!  I'm finding that having a dr you trust is much more important than the hospital itself.

    I am a STM and seeing Dr. Katrina Bradley who is associated with SLR. She was amazing during my first pregnancy and has been just as great during this one. Her office is always there to answer my questions (no matter how inane) and I feel like Dr. Bradley will take as much time with me as is needed to answer any and all questions at all of my appointments. Her office has also been fantastic with my insurance (which changed at 16 weeks) and with dealing with them regarding additional ultrasounds I need.

    The bottom line is finding someone you feel comfortable with. Good luck!

    I would second Dr . bradley or Shulina who is also in her practice.

    I am a cert doula and cert childbirth educator so I have a unique opportunity to see several hospitals and OBs over the years.
    I also like Dr. Leonard at NY Pres, he is so gentle and kind, and you know when he calls a section it is really the last resort...

    I switched Drs around 13 weeks. Just to give you a heads up, I found it impossible to get anyone at Cornell...I called most of the OBs on their Drs list! Seems they book up super early...if you're past 9 weeks you're going to need to be very lucky to find one there that will take you. Spoke with one of the Drs to find out why they're all full and she told me they have only a certain # of spots available depending on your due date. They do it that way so that the Dr doesn't end up with a ton of deliveries around the same time...which would lead to crazy work hours for them, and compromises patient safety. (Who wants a Dr who has been up for long hours with zero sleep, and you're their 3rd or 4th delivery? Can they do it? Sure. But is it a good idea and are they going to be as sharp on no sleep? Doubtful.) I ended up contacting my insurance, calling around to those Drs who participated w my insurance plan, and choosing one from among those willing to take me. You will find someone, but be prepared to make a bunch of calls! Good luck!
