Can't agree on boy name

My husband and I cannot agree on any boy name. He is set on Giovanni and I love Alexander. And both of us wont change our minds. This is much harder than it was picking our first baby's name. We won't even discuss names anymore. Any suggestions? Other names?

I'd try something like Nymbler, that lets you put in names you like and gives you similar suggestions. Those names are pretty different but maybe you can find something middle ground that you both like.
The Baby Names board would also be a great resource. Good luck, you still have plenty of time.

I'm in the same boat but for our baby girl. I love Mila and hubby isn't feeling it and he loves Romy (after his mom who's name is Rosemary but she was called Romy as a child) and I hate it. Not a fan of the name in general and don't want our daughter named after my MIL. As a middle name would be one thing but not for her first name.
We are back to square one

We have a similar issue. We just tend to like totally different kinds of names. We've discussed a lot WHY we like what we like and that has helped a little in narrowing it down. i.e. DH wants something not in the top 200, must be multiple syllables, I want something feminine (we're having a girl) and classic. We now have a possibility (yes, just one), although neither of us is sold on it. I'm starting to like it more, though, so I think it's possible to compromise that way.

@amoot890 has a good point. Start new lists. You may find something you start liking that way.

Thanks @mztwilson I like that too but Romy or even Rosemary would have to come after Jill (my late mom) Mila Jill Rose or Rosemary is my fav. We've got time to sort it out

I'm sure we can agree on a first name, I am opened to others than Mila as well.

I feel your pain. We had one picked out for a boy (if this is a boy-U/S tomorrow), but everytime someone says "Harry" instead of Harrison I want to stab them in the eyeball wih a spork! So I'm still looking.

@EmbracingChange I LOVE Harrison. I can't use it because of people assuming he'd be Harry.

OP. H and I were in a very similar situation. Some discussions would end with me being an overly hormonal wacko, bawling because we just couldn't agree. Then I decided to read off the SS top 1000 names. I came across Cameron and was like "That's nice" and H agreed. We haven't set that in stone but I haven't looked at one baby name site since and we haven't discussed any other name.

If worse comes to worse, take a list to the hospital and see what fits your little guy.

@ricecakes1216- I knew a guy named Harrison. No one ever called him Harry. I think it is all in preference of parent and child (once they're older)

@elenik- A friend of mine found a way to combine names to make them both happy. Another suggestion, do you both have a middle name picked out? Then you could use both names. And don't forget there's always the scream/formal test on which one flows best with the last name.

I am assuming that your DH is Italian based on his choice so maybe something still Italian but something you like the sound of better. What about Antonio, Nico, Marco, Roberto, Luca? Boy names are hard. I love DS's name so much it is hard to find something else for our second son.

DH and I are both fans of using family names for MN then have a name with no family affiliation for the FN. With DD, we picked her MN from my side of the family and decided that kid#2 would have a MN from his side of the family (boy or girl). From which side is the MN of your first kid? If it's from his side then I think you have a definite argument for why not to use MIL's name in kid#2's name.
FWIW though, I don't like Romy but I do think that Mila Rose is a very pretty name.

I like your logic lady. Our sons middle name is from his side of the family so I refuse to budge on Jill as the first m/n but am opened to having two. I really want my daughter to have my moms name as her middle name, its a tribute really as she passed away almost 4 years ago. Thanks

I know a family that named their little boy Harrison and he is never to my knowledge called Harry

I think you need more than two names. Two people showing up with a favorite = one loser, one winner. Not a good way to make a decision.

We made a long list for boys and for girls when we first got pregnant and kind of sat with them for a time being. We then crossed off the ones we really didn't like, which left us with a pool of options. Now that we know we're having a girl, we have one strong name that we both agree on, and a couple of backups in case she's born and it doesn't seem like the right fit.

My sons name is Enzo. I like Italian names or names with a European flair
