WDPT?

We had our sitter here to watch DS this past Saturday night. She just called a few minutes ago to tell me that she isn't able to sit for us for a while bc she came down with pneumonia.

Im obviously not trying to be "that paranoid mom", and DS is acting seemingly fine as of now (in fact I'm the one sick with a head cold). But is this something I should check with the pedi about? Or just keep an eye out for any signs of illness/difficulty breathing? I feel sorta dumb for asking this.

I gotta admit...I'm a little paranoid, obviously bc she was just caring for my kid a few days ago and seemed fine. I reeeaaally dont want to mess around with pneumonia! Ugh...winter needs to be over.

  • Don't worry until you have to.

    Hope everyone stays healthy!

Thanks, me too! I hear ya. I figured as much, and I certainly dont want to borrow trouble, but ugh! A cold is one thing....but pneumonia? No thank you!!

  • Pneumonia isn't really contagious

  • It typically derives from another infection

I did not know this. Learn something new e everyday. Hopefully this means we wont have to worry/deal with any of that then!

  • Yeah, you can't catch pneumonia from another person.  Did she say what was going on beforehand or that she just suddenly came down with it?

Well I do know she had been having some previous medical issues a few months back, but dodnt go into detail and I didnt want to pry...so I guess its possible that it was a contributing factor.
