East Coast/Southern Girls...

How are you doing prepping for YET another storm???
Hoping that all the Southern ladies are hanging in, I know there is a lot of power outages expected with the ice in places like Georgia.

Here in good old metro NY, the rain/ice/snow line is totally effing with us and we are getting anywhere from 6-10 inches, with 3-4 coming early Thursday AM, then rain, then 3-4 more late Thursday night.  But that changes with every.single.newscast.

I am just hoping the new NYC mayor closes the schools because well, if they close then my office closes and I won't feel bad not even trying to come in tomorrow.

I was never a weather complainer.  I mean the Dashboard shots in the summer and the lawn furniture shots with snow on the winter literally drive me insane....but this ish is ridiculous.

Re: East Coast/Southern Girls...

  • Ugh!  I already told my boss I'll be working from home tomorrow... I'm NOT venturing out in another storm.  The big one in the second week January it took me 4 hours to get home (normal commute is about 35 minutes) and I was petrified with DS in the car with me.  I hope your office is closed tomorrow!

  • I have no where to put it! I'm in CT, and have at least 3 feet built up from all the prior snow storms in my yard with at least 2 inches of ice on top of the snow. I'm a nurse, so I have to go in, but last wednesday I called out with pride. I always go in during the snow, but with how I've been feeling lately, I decided to stay warm indoors. I'm working tonight and hope my relieving nurse shows up. They are notorious for calling out.

I'm due in tomorrow as well, but that may not happen. My husband won't let me shovel since I had a teeny tiny incident back in December with the shovel. Split my eyelid open when the shovel hit a piece of ice and the handle flew back into my face. Good times.

  • I'm in Jersey, not far outside of NYC and as much as I'm not into complaining on social media about the weather I've just about had enough.  I will be staying home tomorrow and working from home, possibly doing the same on Friday.  I can't take it anymore.

  • I'm so over winter. we're expecting 12+ inches. I'd like to come to work a bit to save some PTO, but that doesn't sound like it is going to happen.

thankfully our new generator is ready to go, so we should be okay with power and water. we were without for 3 days last week.

hopefully mother nature will get it out of her system this year. of course I might enjoy a few extra snow days with DD and this LO ;-)

  • I'm hoping for a snow/ice day tomorrow (I live in Northern VA). I work for a County government so we don't always follow OPM. We are supposed to get 4-8 inches of snow/ice. My plans include catching up on the Bachelor, sleeping in, and making chocolate chip pancakes.

  • I'm so sick of winter. Living on a farm and having livestock sucks in the snow. We haven't been able to empty the manure pile in weeks. It's more like a manure mountain. And I can't hunker in the house because I still have to tend to the horses and of course, no employees come in the snow. Can't tell you how many times I've gone down on the ice. Ugggghhhhhh. Someone remind me why I live in New England?

  • Im right outside Philadelphia, as pp said I am wondering where they're going to put this next snowfall,
I live in a complex and there's barely even a path way to get into the building parking lot as of now with all this snow piled up, I'm off tomorrow but I don't think I ll be going Friday either if its to much of a mess, just stopped at Walmart on my way home from work it was like something out of the apocalypse
  • I hate my life right now. I live northeast of Atlanta and we are totally confined to our house. We got a couple inches of snow this morning but now it is straight ice raining down and it has packed on a layer of that over the snow. It hasn't quit all day. I worked from home yesterday and today, probably tomorrow now as well since I doubt this will all melt and go away by then. This has been the weirdest winter we've had in a long time.

  • I'm in the corner of SC near the GA/NC borders. It's been snowing/sleeting all day but we thankfully still have power. It's supposed to continue thru the night but warm up tomorrow and Friday. Thankfully I don't have to work again until Friday.

  • I'm in MD. We are expecting 18 inches of snow, starting tonight and lasting through tomorrow night. They have issued a state of emergency already, but of course my school district hasn't called off school yet. DH and I did a bunch of shopping for junk food and I actually remembered to bring home all of my school work for both regular school and grad class. Hooray for being prepared to snowed in for the next few days!

    Hope everyone stays safe!
  • I'm in central NC. We have 6-8 inches of snow in our area and now it's sleeting. My husband is currently driving to Pittsburgh for work, so I and the doggies are at my parents house. They're expecting major power outages here, and my parents have gas everything. The roads are horrendous so I'm pretty nervous about hubby driving. Everyone stay safe and warm!

  • I'm in Western PA and we are only going to get 4-6 inches. At this point, nothing surprises me. It has been one storm after another and life goes on. I'm ready for spring!!
  • Stay safe everyone.  It has been such a freaking brutal winter and like a PP said, I don't like to complain, but YIKES!  Commuting to NYC from Long Island has been a disaster.

  • I'm so far south in ga that all were getting is rain and non freezing temps. This time they aren't freakinf out like the last time thank goodness. Stay warm ladies!!! Stay safe <3

  • I live in Columbia, SC.  It's been snowing since yesterday morning.  We closed school early and I have been home since.  We got about 4 inches of snow, and then over an inch of solid ice on top of that.  They have not plowed any roads.  My DH tried to get to the highway, but couldn't because cars were in ditches.  I grew up on LI and it is much easier driving there in the snow.  We don't have the equipment to handle it.  Our governor has already asked for help from FEMA.  It's pretty bad.  Over 200,000 people in my area without power.  We have another snow day tomorrow and will probably not have school on Friday either!

  • Well my smart husband is finally giving up on making it to Pittsburgh tonight. He's just north of Richmond. I'm so mad! He never should have left. I'm trying not to say I TOLD YOU SO. grr.

  • I'm in New England. We're expecting 6-12 inches. I've got bottled water, bread, PB&J, snacks, propane tanks were topped off today by the gas company by chance, got flashlights and candles and oil lamps, and the snow blower is gassed and ready to go. Not touching that until Friday probably, since they're saying it could snow through Thursday night and well past midnight. If we get ice and branches/limbs weren't maintained since the last ice storm, then we could lose power.

  • Outside Philly here. We have off Friday and Monday anyway. We found out last night that today would be snow day #7. I love being able to stay home, but it's getting old. Five year-old commented, "I know, Mom, a snow day," when I told him he didn't have the sitter.

  • Boston suburb here. It started snowing around 5:30 this morning and now it's coming down pretty hard. Still trying to decide whether or not I should drive the 40 minutes to work just to turn around and leave early. After all this snow and working from home, I'm going a little stir crazy.

  • I haven't gone out yet, but a friend said my town is at seven inches. Not sure if I trust that or not. At least it finally stopped snowing.
  • We have easily 12 inches here, and more coming. DH is out there now trying to do a bit of shoveling. Snow was up to just about his knees.

Jersey shore area is getting hit hard right now! Not sure how much accumulation we've gotten so far, but the wind and sleet are terrible. I have to work from home since my office is closed (it's in Princeton, which is supposed to be getting about a foot), but I'm taking a break to build the glider with DH later. I'm soooo ready for summer; that's why we moved to the shore, after all!

  • Looks like we have about 8" here.  We've got a little break for now, and the radar looks like we're right on the line for either more snow or a wintery mix for the rest of the day.

  • NYC mayor let the schools open this morning....which is ridiculous. My office was open, but I told my team to stay home. Ill do some wok from home. Last night at 9, the school here on LI called a delay to 10am. Then at 8 am they closed all together once the snow was in full force.
