High-Risk Pregnancy

Anyone with congenital heart disease?

I was born with hypoplastic right ventricle (missing my right ventricle) and a few other disorders like my heart being on the wrong side. This is my first pregnancy, and it was kind of a surprise. I have been seeing a MFM and a cardiologist. So far everything is going well but the farther along I get the more nervous I get about my heart function. So I am looking for a support buddy if there is anyone on the board with a similar condition.

Re: Anyone with congenital heart disease?

  • I have heart issues but more electrical than structural. My HR and blood pressure both drop unexpectedly and I pass out. I have a pacemaker implanted.

I did quite well with my 1st pregnancy. My high risk ob and my regular OB worked very very closely. I made it to 35 weeks.

I have a pacemaker too, mine is in my abdomen tough because Ive had it since I was 7. The cardiologist is worried it will pick up kicks as extra beats. You say you made it to 35 weeks, if you dont mind me asking why didnt you make it to term?
  • @kferrell0201 I developed pre-e with HELLP. We knew with my autonomic issues that BP would likely be an issue. Quite honestly, we thought I'd need bed rest bc it would be too low. No one anticipated the quick shift to high BP.

Looking back it makes sense that I was diagnosed with GD as well as the issues with kidney/liver function (HELLP). All that stuff is controlled by autonomic nerve which for me, is an issue. We'll see what this time brings.

. Good luck with this one! Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!
