AW 4 months old - what a ride!!

I know I have been MIA lately but we have had a lot of crap going on. I have been back to work for a few weeks now, but part time until this past Monday. Owen was in daycare for part of that time for a few hours a day. He went 6 days total for about 5 hours and in that time he got a rash on the back of his head, came home with poop completely dried and crusted all over his diaper area, and finally, the coup de grace, he got RSV. Needless to say he did not go back to that day care.

RSV is some scary sh**t for a preemie mom. LO had been congested for a few days but we had to go to the mountains (about 4 hours away) for my grandmother's funeral. We were on our way home when I decided I didn't like his breathing. It was way too fast and I could hear some wheezing. It just so happened we passed a sign on the interstate for a medical center and we pulled off. He tested positive for RSV and his oxygen levels were hovering around 89% on his own. When we blew O2 in his face it jumped to 100% almost immediately. They decided to admit us for observation overnight. That night he did well, after a ibutoral breathing treatment he was able to keep his O2 levels higher and we were able to go home that afternoon at 4.

Other than that one blip, we have been doing really well. Little man has started really talking to us and smiling. He has really good head control and is starting to enjoy playing. We have him in a new daycare that I am MUCH more comfortable with and things are going well.

Here is a picture of him "studying" with his daddy. He was on highlighter duty!

LO had his 4 month check up today which means shots which means he has been sleeping a lot today so I have taken some time on this snow day to catch up on the board. I miss you ladies and am hoping I can start fully participating again!!

  • So glad things the going better now! Did you have a conversation with the director of thy daycare? Sounds like some neglect or at least poor training of their infant staff. I'd definitely say something for the sake for the other babies in there! But good job getting him out :)
