One & Done: Only child

Bummed!

We are getting another big (6-12") snow storm here, and the timing is way crappy.. Thursday afternoon into Friday Morning.  You know how many sad kids there will be if there's no school on Valentine's Day?  My DD's class spent two hours making and decorating special bags for it this week. They're having a party, I'm baking cookies..  we filled out her Valentine cards last night.  Then this morning she watched the news and had a tear in her eye :(

And normally I imagine they would just move the party/card giving to Monday, but we are actually off the entire next week for winter recess.  So what.. making it up 2 weeks after the fact? Boo.  I'm hoping her teacher assumes there's a snow day and perhaps moves it to tomorrow? Or maybe we won't get pounded like they assume, that's happened.

I don't care about the day, the H and I don't really celebrate.  But for the kids who are super excited about their party and handing out cards to friends..  I sooo loved that day as a kid in school!

No snow, no snow, no snow, no snow, no snow, no snow.....

Re: Bummed!

  • I am with you on the no snow! I am over it! COME ON SPRING :)
  • Loading the player...
  • I hope her teacher moves the part to tomorrow too!  Then I hope she does an extra celebration on Friday if school's not cancelled :)  Avoiding snow days is definitely cause for celebration!
  • If it's moved, I need to get my butt in the kitchen and make cookies :P  I was going to make them tomorrow.  Hopefully DD tells me the scoop or we get a note or e-mail so I know what I'm doing!

  • It's actually gone up now.. was 6-12" now they bumped us to 8-12".  Blah!  It's starting earlier, though?  It was Thursday night into Friday AM.  Now it's starting after Dawn Thursday and ending sooner, I think.  It almost sounds like Thursday should be closed, verses Friday.  And that the roads will be cleaned by Friday ::shrugs:: it's going to be a hard call for the school districts, the news says.

At least we'll get lots of cookies to chow on if there's no school?

  • That's awful! Here's hoping that the teacher moves the party!
