Valentines Shmalentines

Tell me your plans…

We don't bother with valentines, as our first date was on the 12th Feb so we celebrate that instead. It means we can always get a table! In fact, today is our 10th anniversary! Yep, 10 years today i went on my first date with my future hubby/baby-daddy! I was a young and impressionable 17 and he was an even more impressionable 19. We're going out for a meal tonight at one of Jamie Oliver's restaurants.

  • If we make it to 10 years without me murdering my DH in his sleep (snoring, grinding teeth, bed hogging, generally being a PITA) I'll be impressed. So congrats to you!

As for Valentine's Day, it is my absolute least favorite "holiday" so no, we don't celebrate. I appreciate the fact that there is chocolate covered strawberry flavored everything, heart gobstoppers, and dove hearts in stores right now, but no, we don't celebrate Valentine's Day at all.

  • Well this year is a little different. We normally don't really do anything, maybe go out to eat but not always. This year he is in Florida for work and has next week off so we decided to make a bit of a baby moon out of it. My mom will watch DS and I'm flying down to him. We'll leave Sunday to drive back home.

Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!

  • Happy Anniversary!

We are both of the "if you're not romantic all year round, why try to act like it for a day?" mind, so hopefully we will just make dinner and have some sex.

    @pistolpackinmamma That sounds awesome. Enjoy!
  • We don't really do much but DH is going to cook dinner. Probably steak, yumm!

  • Nothing.  We hate Valentine's Day.  Everything is crowded and overpriced.  We will probably rent a movie and hang out at home.
  • Happy anniversary!

We don't do gifts or anything for Valentine's day. DH usually brings me flowers and we go out to dinner. That's it.

  • We celebrate VDay on the 15th when all the overpriced candy goes half off...

And by celebrate, I mean lying in bed watching Netflix while gorging on chocolate.

I'd rather celebrate Steak and a Blow Job Day next month with a trip to Texas Roadhouse ;-)

  • Happy 10 years!

I told DH we should just do candy as gifts, then sit at home and eat and watch tv. That's what we always do but it sounds glorious to me. I don't even want to waddle my big self out of the house after work with a toddler to a restaurant (or pay for a babysitter).

Its hit and miss, some years we go out, some years we just act if there was nothing happening.  This year I want to take him out to dinner.  I realize that he's been very supportive during my pregnancy.  Even though I know I could do it any night of the week, I kind of like going out to dinner on Vday and couple watching.  Its like a dinner and a SHOW!  I got him this for Vday this year...

Just going to dinner at an american grill, nothing fancy.
  • Congrats on 10 years!! That's awesome. :)

Well, we don't do much for V-Day normally. DH is not a romantic guy. He does a billion nice things, but I wouldn't call it romantic. But, SIL/BIL are taking the boys overnight on Friday (at their own request), and leaving DH and I alone. ;) So we are ordering in Indian food (cause I just can't get enough), and we'll probably watch a movie (taking suggestions if you have any). Then Saturday morning we are driving to IKEA for breakfast, woot for $1 breakfast :) and buying a loveseat for the playroom that we can't get when the boys/car seats are with us.

Depending on how the Indian food sits will determine how lucky DH gets on Friday night. I'm going to preemptively say slim chance, but we'll see.

  • Congrats on your 10-year!  DH is making me filet mignon (we pretty much avoid going out v-day night to avoid everybody).  I'll probably get him a pint of whiskey to have with it.  We stopped keeping whiskey around when I got KU since he knows it's my favorite and is considerate enough not to drink it in front of me when I can't have any.

  • Happy 10 years! My husband cooks is a nice meal at home. We exchange cards. I use it as an excuse to buy myself something. Works for us.

  • I got DH Reese's candy heart, he will probably bring me flowers and we are going out for lunch Saturday the 15th at this awesome restaurant my sister in law got as a gift card to, I am very excited to eat here but I didn't want to deal with the Valentine's night crowd
  • I'm excited for V day! I work a 12 hour shift but we will exchange gifts that night. I got him a mini fridge for his man cave. Then Saturday we are going to Washington DC for the night and stopping at the outlets on the way home. My bank account is going to take a hit this weekend!
  • My in laws offered to watch our kid so I guess we will do something after all! Originally we planned on ordering take out and watching the Olympics. Sexy, I know. I guess we'd better try to get a table somewhere.

  • Congrats on 10 years!

I bought him a card Monday and some good chocolates and gave it to him.  But really we don't typically do Valentine's Day.  The only reason I got him chocolates was because I bought a little something for my son and didn't want DH to feel left out.  LOL!  But seriously...we have zero plans.  We also feel that if you can't do something sweet for each other throughout the year then why do it on the one day of the year everyone feels obligated to?

We won't do anything special until Sunday then it's delicious brunch at this great french place and strolling around the local art museum. No sex I'm on pelvic rest due
    :((
  • We generally celebrate the day after so all of the movies/restaurants aren't crazy packed. But hubby has Friday off since Monday is a holiday. I think we may just do lunch. He is getting me a maternity massage next week :) it's all I wanted so I'm very excited!
  • Happy Date-aversary!  :)
  • Probably not much. I did ask for some chocolate covered strawberries, or a Dulce de Leche cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory, but I just had to pay a couple of major bills, so we probably don't have enough to really do anything this year, but we never really do anything anyways, so that's nothing new.
  • We don't celebrate, so we have no plans whatsoever.

  • Valentines day is my daughters birthday. I took the day off and fiancé works afternoons so we will probably do lunch and take my daughter shopping to get a few things.
  • Congrats on 10 years!

We usually keep it pretty low key.  I bought him a card and we've been eating chocolate for the past few weeks so...

Netflix is really giving the gift on the 14th: House of Cards Season 2.  :D

Congratulations on 10 years! Nothing to big my mom and aunt are coming to visit this weekend so I was going to go all out for them. Buy them flowers, cupcakes, sweets, and massages. I bought my DH a small gift today and I need to figure out what to do for dinner. I had plans to make a big dinner but then remembered my cousin will be joining us and she is a picky eater. I may just have to try for a reservation some where.

    Edit because I can't spell.
