I used expired formula!!! :(

This week my supply has tanked, I think due to AF, so I had to supplement quite a bit with formula. I just happened to look at the bottom of the can and it expired 3 days ago. And she's had a good 75% of the 12oz can by now!!

Besides the occastional supplementing, I don't formula feed and feel really stupid for not checking the date. I just assumed it would be okay :( I'm fairly sure 3 days passed the date isn't terrible and DD seems just fine and I wont' be using the rest but..........well, HOW bad is it to have used that much expired freakin' powdered MILK???!!!! ugh.

    I'm sure if it was a big deal she would have gotten sick by now.  Don't worry about it!

    Since it is so close to the expiration date I think she will be fine.

    I'm sure there's probably a little leeway on the expiration date.  I would think only 3 days past would be just fine.

    I am sure she is fine.  If you are really worried you could call your pedi and see what they think.

    Also,  since you only supplement occassionally you could buy the little travel sized single packets of formula (they come in 4oz size) so that you don't have to worry about wasting a whole lot of formula.  I keep those around for just in case even though I breastfeed.

    A few days is not a big deal.  Even regular milk is fine a few days after the expiration date.  And just to add, once opened, a can is only good for 30 days.  I thought of that since you said you only use it occasional to supplement.
