How do you northern girls do it????

we're up in upper NY with the ILs.  It was 9 degrees out yesterday morning.  Nine.  The would be a 60 degree difference from what we left in Florida.  I could not live in the snow.  The drama that you have to go through just to get into the car, let the dogs outside, go to the grocery store.... I guess I am too lazy to have to deal with it all.

  • Yeah well it was like 9 here in IN on Sunday with a windchill of -17!!! It was AWFUL!  DH said we are moving!...lol.  Then yesterday we got hit with some freezing rain so a 30 minute drive home took me 3 1/2 hours thanks to idiots on the interstate!  I finally had to turn around and drive down the median until I found a break in the road and go to opposite direction to the next exit and then call DH to get me home!  SO be thankful you live in FL!

  • This morning I slipped on black ice walking out of the bakery. I ruined my pants but I saved the cake. If I could only find a place where it is Autumn all year round and then convince DH to move there.
  • ok so why do you do it?  Is it family?  Is it a love of the snow?  I mean in FL you have the heat, but that doesn't make you have to do anything really different from nice weather.  Like you'd still wear the same clothes (for the most part- you just get a little sweaty), nothing changes with your car (ok you put the sunshade up).

now don't get me wrong.  this is about the 4th time I have seen snow and I was like a little kid bouncing around in it, making snow angels.  I had a great time.  But darn it is a lot of work!

  • personally I hate the cold and snow.. I wanna move

  • I know I'm different from most but I love the cold and snow.   It's just so pretty to see everything covered in a blanket of snow.  It's so peaceful and beautiful and it is so refreshing to breathe in the cold air.   There are days when it gets bitterly cold- like 9 degrees.  But for the most part, in the NYC area, it stays mostly around 30-40 degrees.  I love that!

My husband is from Texas though and he hates the cold.  He's trying to get me to move to Texas but I can't imagine sweating all the time.  I hate the heat.  I don't know how you all do it.  I'd be wearing a big huge hat all the time trying not to get sunburned!

3 IUI's and 2 IVF's later- Brady arrived. Born at 36 weeks after PUPPS and pre-e/HELLP.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again

  • Mostly family. Dh has lived all over with the military but he loves Philly. He likes the seasons but not the summer. He doesn't like the heat or the sun. He wants to go colder no way.

I don't like to shovel. i dont like wearing a heavy coat. It is nuts trying to drive in it bc my work never closes even if there is 4 feet of snow falling an hour.

Between November and the middle of April I whine alot about the weather.

  • Used to it I guess- It was 20 BELOW here last week (in Montana).  I LOVE the snow but HATE the cold...

  • I absolutely HATE the winter and the snow but the only reason I stay here in Mass is because of my parents. I would probably consider moving if I didn't have them around.
  • I LOVE AZ winters, but hate the summer!  I don't know if I will ever be happy! : )
  • I guess you just get used to it.  Just like you're not outside for long in the summer, we're not outside for long in the winter.  I don't love winter, but there are some things that just wouldn't feel right w/o snow.  Like, I don't "get" going to hockey games in FL.  That's just unnatural to me.
