Any of you ladies crazy enough to try one of these?! I went out and bought all the stuff I need for it. Anyone tried something like this or their own mobile?
I made one like that for Montgomery. He has since distroyed it because it was above his changing table and he would take the circles off of it. It was fun to make though. I just don't have the time to do it with this baby. Here's a picture.
I have that exact tutorial pinned I plan on making one but will use different size circle punches. I also will probably pick out coordinating patterned and solid scrapbook paper.
The lady who wrote the tutorial has a way of hanging up so that you can play with the balance of it. I'm nervous it won't work out but I'm usually like that before I start a new craft and they mostly turn out okay! I bought the same kind of paper she used except in a blue colour scheme and choose a punch that has a scalloped edge for the circle to bring some dimension to it. Good luck ladies!!
hung it in the corner of her room and not over her crib. her room was all primary colors since we were team green. I had planned to reuse her room stuff for this LO, but think I might just wait until baby arrives and work on it this summer. mostly because I'm lazy now and if #2 is a boy then we can incorporate all DH's baseball memorabilia currently occupying our office/future baby room
I haven't tried it, but I am definitely considering it. I really love the way these mobiles look. Unfortunately, more often than not, I end up paying someone else on Etsy to make things for me!
That's really cute!! I made one off Pinterest but I'm too scared to have it above baby's crib so it will likely go above the changing table. It ended up being really heavy and I still need to add pink ruffle around the outside edge. ETA: sorry the picture is huge.
just wanted to mention I came across this seller on etsy who provides die cuts of a ton of different shapes and colors. If you're thinking about doing a mobile with cute shapes but don't want the hassle of cutting them out she might be a good resource!
OMG! That is the exact mobile I made for our baby girl!
I highly recommend the punch ( i had it left over from our wedding DIYs ) 400 circles in I wanted to shoot myself. Otherwise don't anticipate it getting done in an afternoon. It took me a good 8 hours for a couple of days (while watching the telly, but still). For all the hard work. I absolutely love it! (please excuse the messy office which still needs to be cleared out for the incoming nursery!)
I made a mobile with felt figures (elephants, clouds, and stars) to put over his changing table. I also used an embroidery hoop to hang, but I painted it instead of wrapping with yarn. Now I kind of wish I would have wrapped with yarn to tell you the truth... It did take some time to complete, but I really like the finished product. I did it mainly because I couldn't find anything in stores that I liked Good luck!
I've been looking for one that I like too... I love how that one comes with directions. :-) I kind of want to use crystals but I like the idea of using card stock since I'm not about to go steal that many paint chips...
8 hours total or 8 hours each day?! I knew it'd take some time so I was going to slowly start working on it! Yours turned out great...here's hoping mine does too!!!
I made this one for DD's room when I was pregnant with her. I ordered the kit from Etsy and then put it all together. It will take forever. But is super cute if you have the time.

I would say a good solid 8 hours total. It definitely took me longer because I was a perfectionist, and was distracted by tv and a dog that wanted to go out and such. It is well worth the effort though. My DH was skeptical about it but absolutely loves the results. Good Luck and don't forget to share pictures when you are finished!
I am making one with winged keys. The baby's room is a hint of Harry potter themed, and I thought the winged keys from philosophers stone would be cute. Just need to find a crib attached because I would love for them to be able to turn like they are flying.
I am making one with wool balls similar to this...I bought the balls off of a store on Etsy and have found some good sticks in the back yard that I'm going to sand down to hang the balls from. (sorry this pic is so damn big...technically challenged to figure out how to shrink it!)
