Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Sooo itchy!

I looked around and saw some discussion of people have PUPPP after baby was born but not much mention how long it lasted. Tomorrow will be two weeks pp and it's been about a week that I broke out in a rash on my stomach, legs and bum. The BF nurse thought it might be PUPP but didn't diagnose it. I haven't seen my Dr. I want to scratch my skin off most of the time, so crazy itchy and it just makes the welts worst. I've been putting aveeno with oatmeal and it helps for a bit. Just wondering how long it's going to be around for!

I had Puppp, Honestly nothing the dr prescribed helped. It lasted 4 weeks pp for me, and still flares up here and there. What worked best for me was cold showers/baths (heat made it worse). No lotion and if you absolutely need to cause you are super dry then Use the most natural unscented one you can find. I changed my laundry detergent to totally scent free as well which helped too, and then I bought dandelion root extract tablets, I took those every day, drank Tons of water (to flush my system) and eventually it did get better. It got extremely bad then almost instantly better.. It really, really sucks.. I feel for you :(. Oh and another thing that helped was "grandpa pine tar soap" I would use it twice a day, shower morning and night and really scrub it on the rash and kinda left it to sit on there a couple mins before rinsing (cool water of course). You can buy those things at a health store

  • I had PUPP, post partum and boy does it suck. Mine lasted about 3wks. Started on my belly and forearms then moved slowly all over my body. Cool showers helped but mine was so itchy i couldnt take it and went to a dermatologist and was given a stronger version of cortisone cream. It helped so much. It cleared up my belly and forearms in 6hrs BUT down side was i couldnt BF while on it. I would put the cream on the affected areas and Vaseline on the rest of my body.. Sorry your dealing with it. I am 12wk pp and have no signs of it.. Feel better.
  • Thanks ladies! Here's hoping it clears sooner than later!
