So...Disney?

Jkep got me thinking about Disney. I'm a Disneyworld nut and would go there every year. While my husband finds it enjoyable, he doesn't love it like I do. Hub wants to wait until H is 4 or so and then he's willing to do the whole week on property thing. He's willing a day trip to Disneyland sometime when he's two or so though, but that's more for me. We always go in the fall or spring when the parks are empty.

So you ladies like Disney? Hate it? Will you go? How old do you want LO to be? Will you do it for a day or the whole big experience? Finally Disneyland or World?

Also, totally non- related, H fell asleep in the car on the way home from an outing today. I thought I'd sit with him in the garage for ten minutes or so. We both woke up an hour and a half later. My neck hurts.

I can't wait to take LO. I think I will wait until she is 4 or 5. We would go to Disneyland since it's closer than Disneyworld.

  • Yeah! I love that there are other Disney fans here. Don't get me wrong, not everything they do is awesomesauce, but in general I enjoy the the rides and the level of immersion.  Staying on park was amazing, so I hope to do that again. @2013mommy, I will bring my Mom too, so husband and I can get out at night some. My Mom doesn't love Disney, but she loves my kid.
  • We are huge Disney fans! I have been 4 times in the past 5 years. We just took DS in October and he was 15 months. It was a lot of work. I think I let my enthusiasm get the best of me when deciding to take DS so young. We were also there for 7 days (gone 9 days if you include travel). It was also really hot which just added to everything. The next time we go I would like to wait until DS is 3 and it also depends on if we have a second. I have never been to Disneyland so I can't compare. It was a memorable trip though. We did his first haircut at the barbershop on main street in Magic Kingdom. Definitely the highlight of the trip.

  • @tazmm18, I love the first haircut idea! I may try and work that into the Disneland day trip. What a fun idea. Thanks!
  • We're big scrooges. The ILs live about an hour from Disneyland and we're down there visiting twice a year and we still haven't taken LO. Neither DH nor I have any interest and LO still seems too young for it to be a sure thing. He's encountered people in character costume elsewhere, for example, and been frightened. So we're in no hurry. The ILs aren't ever moving.

  • My family is HUGE on Disney.  We live in the upper midwest, so we go to Disney most years to escape.

I originally thought it was goofy (no pun intended) to take a child there before they were 6 or 7, but we are actually going to take DD there next Jan/Feb when she is 2.5.  It is free to take a child there under three, so we are going to take advantage of it since we all (and my parents) enjoy it so much.

  • We LOVE it and are big fans.  We took DS there when he was 1 1/2 and have been back many times since.  He loves it as well,  we have also done Disneyland twice. Also the appeal is that we are in Canada and it is a great winter get away and flights are reasonable, as are accommodations.  we usually do Epcot (my favorite), Hollywood Studies (DS favorite) and Magic Kingdom (family favorite).  We have done animal kingdom but have not liked that one as much in past years but are going to try it out again this year.
  • LOVE Disneyworld. It's weird-I'm not a huge diehard fan of the movies (with the exception of Toy Story), but the parks are so much fun. We were originally going to take him this summer since kids under 3 are free, but as he gets closer to the terrible 2's there's no way I'm taking him now. He did terrible at Busch Gardens around Christmastime and is more defiant now so there's no way.

We're planning a trip around his 4th birthday. We're going to stay on property which we've never done before. Can't wait!

  • I don't know if we'll go. Neither DH nor I are really into Disney. I think we'd rather spend our $ and time traveling somewhere else. We'll see if DS ever wants to go.
  • I have never been. DH went as a kid. We never did any vacations when I was a kid, so I get overly excited whenever we take DS anywhere :) I hope we can go when he is 5 or 6.

DH and I are totally psyched for Legoland instead.
