I have been hesitant to post because my DP and I both prefer to keep our personal lives private, especially with something like TTC. But in our brief journey with this so far, we been surprised and unprepared at times. I have already found guidance on this board, so I am looking forward to being an active part of the group.
We are currently in the 2ww of our first IUI. Today, 8dpIUI, my body is telling me that AF will be coming soon. So I have low expectations that this will be a successful cycle. We already had in our heads that the first cycle would likely be a bit like a test run. We are working with an RE office. Our experience with them so far has been mediocre. Hopefully things will be smoother now that we know a bit more about what to expect.
DP and I have been together for 7 years. It took us a while to get to the point where we both agreed that this is the way we will grow our family. I am regretting that we didn't start sooner since I am over 35, but I also know that our relationship works best when decisions happen organically, like this one did. Although I am worried about all that lies ahead, I am mostly hopeful.
-Cheers-

Our IUIs with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

Welcome and congrats! Quick question - if you're at 8dpiui and your body is telling you AF is coming, how long is your typical leuteal phase? Have you been charting your cycles?
Hopefully you'll find all the support you're looking for here. It's a great family.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I will be sure to check-in at the Monday TTC thread.
@JGY- I did not do any charting prior to this cycle. That is one thing I wish the RE office would have recommended during last month of bloodwork and other testing. My instructions were to use Clear Blue OPK and call the day it turned positive to schedule IUI for the next day. Well OPK didn't turn until CD 16 and I did not know if that was normal for me. So CD13-15 I was pretty stressed that we were timing everything on this one flimsy (but not cheap) kit and I might miss it. I am predicting luteal phase will be 10-12 days, although I have to admit I am not really sure which day counts as Day 1 of luteal phase. When I asked the nurse about later than anticipated OPK +, she said it was no big deal.
Like I said, this first cycle feels a little like a test run so we know a little more about what to expect next time.

@Mellebee- Many of us have been in the situation of trying to educate ourselves the best we could, as we went along. It can be very frustrating, especially if you don't have high confidence in your RE (you mentioned your experience has been mediocre).
Do you know if they took a progesterone level last month? Here's why I ask ... if they did, and didn't have any charting data to go off of, then they likely did the bloodwork on day 21 of your cycle, assuming ovulation on day 14. This is EXACTLY what happened to me (even though I provided them with 3 years - yes, years - of charting data showing that I ovulate around day 18). The P level should be tested 7 days post-ovulation (not just day 21).
Low progesterone at 7dpo would indicate a potential problem in conceiving because your leuteal phase could be too short to accomodate implanation. A 10 day leuteal phase (which is what I had) is really on the borderline of being too short. Once we finally figured this out, and I was put on Progesterone, I conceived the following cycle.
And, for the record, based on my temps it looks pretty clear that implantation happened 10dpo (when I would have normally started my period).
Hope some of this makes sense, and again, you'll find lots of support and many resources here. Feel free to do some searches for topics where you might have questions. Many of these things have come up before and spawned great conversations. Most of us don't mind repeating ourselves a bit though.
Lastly, I know many people on this board have done lots of reading and can suggest good books to help you educate yourself. I believe "Taking Charge of your Fertility" is a popular one. Others on the board would be able to make additional recommendations if you were to want them.
Good luck! Glad to have you around here.
