Ouch: someone asked if I am pregnant. I am not :-(

I am telling you guys because I am actually too embarrassed to talk about this IRL. A stranger assumed I was pregnant today. I am not. I have a small frame and lost all of my baby weight (I have a 3 and 5 year old), but after two c sections, by tummy has a little pooch. I actually get asked if I am pregnant at least once or twice a year. I think I look pretty good, other than the little tummy. I wear a size 8. I think it's because I have a smaller frame and then the tummy is my only problem area. I have no idea. I really do not think I look pg, and it make me feel soooo bad when people assume I am! I try to cover up my tummy by wearing larger shirts, which I think makes it worse. Feeling so down. People and their big mouths suck.

  • I'm sorry. People are jerks. I always wish I could rewind time after a shitty comment when I've thought of a good reply.

  • People suck. I've been asked before it I was pregnant and when I was young I actually made the mistake of asking someone if she was. I felt like an idiot and will never make that mistake again.

  • People are stupid.  Good for you for losing all of the baby weight.  I'm sure you look great.  What an idiot that person is.
  • That's so annoying. The other day at work one if our admin ladies told me out of the blue that she thinks my belly bump is cute. She knows I have an 8 month old. She has several children herself. I have no idea why she thought this was a compliment.

    Hugs.

  • This is happened to my friend recently, her reply was "Just fat but thanks for bringing it up." and she walked away.  Shut the insensitive person right up!
  • I have had it happen to me twice, once way before I was ever pregnant and once after. The funny part is both times it happened at the same grocery store by employees.

Were you buying pickles? Obviously pickles are the only pregnancy craving ever and all fat people buying pickles (including men) are pregnant.
HAHA no. The first time it was the dress I was wearing that made me look  pregnant and we were actually buying beer. The lady didn't card us because we were "with child". We could not get out fast enough because we were laughing so hard. The second time we were actually walking into the store.

  • Ugh, I'm sorry.  That has happened to me twice in my life.  The second time, I responded, "No, I guess I'm just fat," thinking she would be mortified when she realized her own inappropriateness.  Nope, she said "Oh, well, I am too" and walked away.

I was also shocked at how early people felt comfortable asking me whether I was pregnant when I actually was pregnant.  Who points to the belly of someone 12 weeks along and asks, "What's going on there?"

  • What the fuck is wrong with people?

I'm sorry @FollowDaLeader. Was this an older person?

The reason I ask is because someone asked me (because I was giving my classroom a break) and she assumed since I peed/gave breaks so much I was pregnant.

    Not that it excuses anything.

I'm not crazy about my post c/s body either. I did get asked once where "my grandbaby at" when I went to the grocery store without DS.

    Fucking people suck.

    (((hugs)))

  • I got asked this once before I was pregnant with DD. I was wearing a tight dress and a woman at work said "congratulations!" I had just gone on my anti-anxiety meds so I gained some weight. :( Thanks for making my anxiety worse assholes!

My co-worker got asked a lot when she was having TTTC because the meds made her gain some weight. I was extra shitty because she wanted so badly to be pregnant. I wanted to punch those assholes for her.

  • Ugh that is the worst. I'm sorry this happened to me once when I was in high school. I was working at a video store and put a cardigan over my work shirt one night because it was really cold in the store some woman in her 30s asked when I was due in front of all of my coworkers. I was MORTIFIED. I guess I didn't know how unflattering that uniform/sweater was. To make matters worse she came back later that shift with cookies for an apology and rehashed the whole thing in her apology.... it was more than a little awkward.

I'm surprised more people are not aware of this rule.

  • That's the worst. A coworker of DH's heard I was pregnant (I wasn't) and asked me when I was due. I told him I wasn't and he tried to tell me it wasn't cause I looked pregnant, he had just heard it. It was still horribly awkward and whenever I see him he turns bright red and runs away from me.

  • So annoying. I'm so sorry :(

I had that happen when I returned from maternity leave. I went to a restaurant with my coworkers, where I had gone while I was pregnant, The waitress asked me, "You STILL haven't had that baby??" I was like...uhh yeah she's two months old.
