High-Risk Pregnancy

Fell down stairs at 14 weeks

Omg. I was on my way to a patient home and slid down three flights of steps. I caught my fall with my knee and was holding on the hand rail. I feel a knot on my shin and my knee is starting to hurt. I'm just worried about the baby. I'm already high risk due to subchorionic hemorrhage. I'm a first time mom and I'm freaking out. I hope my baby is ok. My DH was angry because he wished I stayed home because of the weather. :-(

Re: Fell down stairs at 14 weeks

  • 3 flights of stairs?! Get to an ER or go see your doctor right away to make sure everything is ok. A fall with that much impact has the potential to cause a placental abruption.

  • Three flights (as in landings and turns separating each one) or three steps?  Either way I would call your doctor to be sure, but three flights I'm imaging you flipping end over end and doing serious damage to just yourself....so I hope you meant 3 steps and that everything is ok.

  • Oh no. 3 stairs. Lol.
  • And thanks. I called my dr. And everything is ok. My knee is just sore.
  • My doctor said any fall or trip like on the carpet and I land on my knee they want to know. Always just call mama. What's the harm? You are too cautions? BAH. Let them tell you everything is fine so you can take it easy. Stress of something may be wrong will be worse.

    I'm glad you're okay!
  • Yeah your right that's what my dr told me when I called her. Got checked and everything is fine. My knee and leg is still sore. Advised to take Tylenol.
