This is my first baby and I wanted to make people wait to find out the gender so I thought it would be cute to have them nwait until they get a shower invitation and they would be themed accordingly. What do you girls think?
I thought about that- but knowing my family and my husbands family, I'll get a call within 30 seconds of opening the invitation.
My husband told me last night he wouldn't mind making it a complete surprise for everyone... including us.
My other thought would be to have my mom (who is throwing my shower) come with me to the ultra sound and have only her find out and have her send out the invites and that way my husband and I could be surprised and find out when we go to the baby shower....
I'm not sure how I'd feel about my mom knowing for weeks and DH and I not knowing. Because you'll probably find out around 20wks, and shower wouldn't be until 30-35wks. I'd say you 3 could find out and then let the guests find out at the shower.
If I were doing that, I'd probably not announce it in the invitation, but when they get to the actual shower, sounds more fun to me. Then you will get to see people's reactions!
Good luck, sounds like a neat idea if you can hold out telling people that long! We were dying to know, and dying to tell everyone when we found out we were having a baby boy.

Who knows? I suppose I still have awhile.
