Crafty moms

So I am not a crafty person at all. I registered for white wall letters to spell my little girls name but I want to paint them. What type of paint should I use? I also included the bedroom theme. I was thinking of painting them bright pink or that bright green color. Her bedroom is painted light pink. I would love all opinions :) Thank you!

Re: Crafty moms

  • I'd go with the darker pink, or even purple would work as a paint colour for the letters. Sorry, no clue on the type of pain!

  • Thank you spacepotatoes :)
  • If you want to paint them just get a can of spray paint. Though I love the look of the ones with scrapbook paper on them.

Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!

  • Mamazon2014 yours look amazing! I think I may go with scrapbook paper :)
  • What are the letters made out of? Some of the craft paint may chip off depending on the surface the letters have.

I'd recommend spray paint, unless you want to sand them a little before your paint with craft paint. That is if the letters have a sheen to them.

    Also. I'd paint them green.

  • Does Michaels have a lot of scrapbook paper and the 3d items to choose from?
  • hfooter I am not sure what the letters are made out of but they look shiny white
  • with DD, we used the unfinished wooden letters from Michael's I think. DH spray painted them. Took several coats but they look great!

  • Thanks for all the different options ladies :) I originally had them on the registry but I think I want to buy them and get started since I'll be 34 and 35 weeks at my showers.
  • I also bought unfinished wood letters and painted them with the art paint (all from hobby lobby). I would also go with the green.

  • I will post a picture when I am done with them :)
  • I plan on doing something similar to this for Brooke when she comes, but I bought unfinished letter from Joann fabrics and the 3D decor from there as well. I just bought the paint they had in bottles down the paint aisle. I glued the 3D stuff on with gorilla glue.
  • Krylon spray paint at MIchaels or any brand of acrylic paint is your best bet.  Scrapbook paper is also a great way to spice it up.  Get a spray adhesive, like Elmers in a spray can.  Trace and cut the letters and spray the back of the paper lightly.  Place it on the letter and use matte or gloss mod podge to seal it.  The cream mod podge that you paint on with a foam brush will cover thick paper better than the spray mod podge.

  • I used acrylic paint on wooden letters and it has turned out great..I think it really does depend on the texture/material your letters are made from :)

I bought all of the supplies for mine at Michaels and they were having a huge sale yesterday on a lot of different items!
