Job interview - what am I going to wear???

edited February 2014 in May 2014 Moms
Hi ladies, I just got a call from a biotech startup where I applied for a research scientist job. They want to see me for an interview Monday. Yay! But I'm freaking out about what to wear.. I imagine people who work there dress fairly casually. I tried my suit with a belly band, no way. I don't have any nice pants, never found maternity work pants that fit me properly, so all my pants are skinny jeans types. I have one dress that is winter appropriate, but it's red. It's jersey and is a little clingy on the hips, but maybe a good pair of maternity tights will solve that. So here's the only outfit I could come up with, red dress and non maternity suit jacket (it has a pink lining BTW) I don't know if I'm entirely comfortable with this outfit. What do you think? Is red too powerful? Should I go shopping for a maternity suit?

  • I think the red is fine, actually I love it.  Maybe some black tights and a black cardigan instead of the blazer?  I don't know, just a thought.

  • Looks good to me!  A pair of black tights might make it more "business-y."
  • I definitely would try to overdress to impress for an interview, but I think any employer should realize that your wardrobe is limited due to being pregnant. I think the outfit would look a bit more polished with either a scarf or big necklace, tights (no leggings), and kitten heels. I would go with stud earrings. Good luck at the interview!
  • And I like the black cardigan idea!
