I have a few questions!
How did you find out what you had?
Did you mention symptoms to your dr and they told you what it was?
What are you doing to help with the pain?
Does anything different happen during l&d for you ladies?
If you have had it before, did the pain go away or did you continue to see someone to help manage?
Any other helpful information would be greatly appreciated!
I've been to Dr. Google and I've pretty much self-diagnosed. I have an appt next week and I am definitely going to mention it to my doc.
Re: Ladies with SPD come in...
How did you find out what you had?
At 28 weeks I started having full blown contractions that were consistent. When I got on the table to be checked I screamed because my legs would not go that way and the doctor on call pushing them. I was writing my waddling at 13 weeks as normal aches and pains... The doctor was surprised and stated that I may have a skeletal issues and after we got my PTL contractions settled he wanted me to go to PT. PT was a joke and they told me there isn't much they can do and only gave me a couple exercises and told DH how to realign my pelvis and hips which in would go out alignment very quickly. Went to my follow up appointment with a midwife to complain about the awful pain did she diagnosis me with severe SPD.
Did you mention symptoms to your dr and they told you what it was?
My OB didn't call is SPD. He called it skeletal issues but my midwife told me it was SPD after I explained what my symptoms where... which were difficulty spreading legs, waddling, limping, extreme pain in on side of hip, grinding, popping...
What are you doing to help with the pain?
DH realign me, however with this pregnancy I am seeing a chiropractor and he is a miracle worker and I am able to walk in 3rd trimester. With DS' s pregnancy they gave me narcotics for the pain and I only took them when it got extremely bad.
Does anything different happen during l&d for you ladies?
Malpositioning... This is the number 1 issue with SPD. Your body is producing too much hormone relaxin which make your pelvis and hips very unstable but also allows more room for baby to move about. They say that SPD suffers have faster labor but my was 18 hours long of natural labor and we found out he was Sunnyside up...
If you have had it before, did the pain go away or did you continue to see someone to help manage?
I still had alignment issues afterwards, however the grinding and popping did settle down some. My chiropractor feels I may have some underlying issues such as hip dysplasia so we are planning xrays.

Thank you for all the information. I really appreciate it. The limping, extreme waddling, spreading legs issues are definitely problems for me this pregnancy that were not with my first one. I can't lift my legs (even hardly an inch) off the ground to put pants/socks/underwear on for example.
So chiropractor care is what has really helped you?
